I don't know who agrees with me on this, but raccoons are so cute and funny. Kind of like cats, but with hands. They seem to be really smart, too. And affectionate. Once again I was going to post some clips on another thread but I figured they deserve a thread of their own.

The one on the left....

I like it when they get into the backyard, and my dog gets to chase them. Squirrels and bunnies too.

They're truly adorable. I had a friend that had one. It destroyed his home as effectively as a dropped bomb would have.

I've heard stuff like that. But I've also come across some people who have them for pets and they seem to be fairly well behaved. So I dunno! (maybe they're just not showing the destruction on their social media vids, haha)

One time James let the dogs out. It's the middle of the night, and we're in the boonies... He's in his underwear. Rocky was about 160 pounds, and Sam was about 10 pounds. They went out back and met an excited raccoon of about 20 pounds. Sam runs out and attaches himself to the coon and runs at James. James wails something like a panicky HYIIIEEEE!! and flings a foot at the Dogcoon which promptly lands at a startled Rockies feet, and that's when I enter the scene, standing at the back door, scratchin my ass and inquiring of all- What the fucks goin on out here????

Good times, good times...

I think you have to get them fixed if you're gonna keep them as pets (not legal in Michigan). Their hormones kick in after 6 months and their behavior changes

A friend of mine had a pet raccoon that would pick his shirt pocket every day when he got home from work looking for gum and candy.

Raccoons have been known to make great pets, especially if raised from young, but I don't know that I'd take in one from the wild.

I agree. But they seem to have gotten used to people...I'm talking about even the ones in the wild.

Anyway. This deer is so patient here, with this little guy

ETA: Someone said that they are both rescues and live in some sort of wildlife rehab place....so they are friends
