Questions Surround $100 Million in ‘Fire Aid’ for Los Angeles

Just think if Mayor BASS ASS would have said, "All this money you donate goes for my awful wigs, boring clothes and most of the money will be thrown at kickbacks to keep me alive in LA! :P

You've got to hand it to California. They are consistent in their corruption. The $100 million in Fire Aid donations that were promised as going DIRECTLY TO THE VICTIMS instead went to dozens of "non-profits" and so far not a dime has helped a fire victim.

Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

I am not surprised.

However, thread title says “Reamin?” Meaning?

(Edit: ah. Wait. Dreaming’.).

Check. 😂
I think he means "California Reaming" because all the voters are getting reamed at the ballot box.:)

Time to put the DOJ to work, no?

It is a real issue when you have corruption. It sinks nations and jurisdictions. Just look at Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and so many other major cities in Canada.

The link is to a California lawmaker pushing for an investigation.

It would seem to me that they are just saying that the Non profit organizations would be giving out the money as that is what they do.

Non Profit

No progressive ever has nice hair. They all have hair that looks like they never wash the soap out of it or have ever seen a stylist. And they all shop for clothes at the same store where Edith Bunker gets hers.

I've decided that it must be all part of the progressive plan to look like what they think their average progressive voter looks like in an attempt to make voters forget they are worth millions and living in mansions off of their dime.

  • FireAid, a newly formed 501c3, partners with local nonprofits to deliver aid, focusing on community support rather than direct payments to individuals.
  • The funds are distributed in phases, supporting various initiatives like housing stability, mental health services, and community infrastructure, with no administrative costs deducted.
Well the name may be misleading but they are clear as to what they do.

They clearly state that they are not focused on providing direct payments to individuals

They provide support to the supporting agencies that actually provide the support to individuals

They state it clearly that they are just a fundraiser. Then provide the funds to supporting agencies who are dealing with the problems wild fires cause.

Fundraiser says it all.

Non Profit
The "Non Profits" are either sitting on the money or they are profiting nicely from the Fire Aid money. NOT A SINGLE VICTIM in Alta Dena has received a dime of Fire Aid money. That's Cali for you. Whether it's 100 million from Fire Aide, 24 billion for homelessness, 100 billion for the "high speed rail" the money disappears into a lot of different rabbit holes.

No, as they hire people experienced in running fund raisers. The group wants to raise money so they hire experienced people who can organize the fund raisers.

Congressman Kevin Kiley (R-CA) is calling on U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to open an investigation into FireAid Funds, saying the money has been misallocated.

So basically the congressman is making waves not the people who organized and hired the fund raiser company.

It seems that the fund raiser was a couple of benefit concerts they held called FireAid

the concert raised supposidly raised 100 million

This is there side of the story

They have been accused of mishandling the money. It just an accusation at this time. Only time will tell if the trial shows that they did something wrong. Innocent until proven guilty does mean that.

No case yet has been set to determine guilt or innocence.

wrong

June 4, 2025 — FireAid, the benefit concert that raised approximately $100 million for wildfire relief efforts, announced the distribution of an additional approximate $25 million, in a second round of grants. FireAid’s first disbursement of LA wildfire recovery funds of approximately $50 million was released in February, bringing the total of funds distributed close to $75 million, to date.

So if they do the last 25 million then they will file a lawsuit
if they do not then they are in trouble.

People have decided guilt or innocence already before a trial date has been set. So far it just allegations.

Innocent until proven guilty.

So they will need to finish the distribution of 25 million. If they do then , I smell a lawsuit

If they didn't then they are pretty much been discreted and proably will no longer do any fundraisers.

There is NO EXCUSE for zero dollars to the victims after MONTHS of having the money. This is not a California outlier. This is the NORM.

Yeah 50 million has been "released" to a host of non-profits who are using the money to promote their own causes NOT to help the victims of the fires.

In sum, the question of whether Fire Aid funds are being spent properly comes down to whether they should have gone directly to residents who lost their homes and possessions, or whether they should have helped organizations helping fire victims in a general or indirect sense, or helping related, worthy causes.

So the story is shifting towards who should get the money, who got some money , and should the money only go to just victim of fires?

IF they provide money to those who are victim of fires and still have money left over. Is it wrong to use the money for some other worthy cause?

The issue is can they account for every cent spent and who got the money and for what reason

Saying that only victims of fires could have access is assuming a lot. Yes california can have problems with wild fires. But how bad it is depends on other factors like amount of rain fall, etc

In the end this is just about where did the money go. If it went to other worth causes , is that so bad.

Yes California wild fires is a problem but is it a problem they have had for years.

If a large percent went to victims of fire then the purpose was meet. At least 75%

So you have a problem with other non profits getting a piece? Charity is not defind by one circumstance. Charity is helping wheter it be for fires or some other worthy cause.

They made the call. People who gave will get the tax write off.

Worthy charities got contributions. Problem with that?
