Also, your ability to hang onto a license is based on a point system.
If you have too many tickets you lose your right to drive.
When it comes to buying a gun they check to see if you've ever been convicted or plead no contest to assault, drug offenses, robbery, or any other crime. If you have anything on your record you can't buy a gun. End of story. Driver's licenses aren't that strict.

Of course if there's a warrant out for your arrest you can't get a driver's license.
But you can't be refused a driver's license at the DMV if you have been convicted of an offense and have served your time....traffic school and no outstanding tickets.
There's where buying a gun differs from a driver's license.
You cannot buy a gun if you have anything on your record.
A license doesn't have that strict of a requirement.
For **** sakes...you can get a driver's license and be an illegal immigrant in some states.
