Getting there, getting there.

Up till now, the fastest on-chip true random number generator clocked in at 40 kbps, using a weirdo electronic device called a memristor that requires special doping and oddball wafer construction.

Enter photonics, which uses a quantum method and has an electronic interface too. New speed: 3 gbps.

In AI there are Monte Carlo methods that require the generation of huge amounts of random numbers. If you're a stock trader doing correlations on the S&P you'll need 250,000 random numbers for each step of the gradient descent, and at least 100 steps to get a stable result. With this new chip, it's possible - which means you get all 500x500 correlations in less than a second. Yowza.

So bitcoin just got devalued by about 10,000 times?
