Trump’s New Position on the War in Ukraine: Not My Problem

For months, President Trump has been threatening to simply walk away from the frustrating negotiations for a cease-fire between Russia and Ukraine.

After a phone call on Monday between Mr. Trump and President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, that appears to be exactly what the American president is doing. The deeper question now is whether he is also abandoning America’s three-year-long project to support Ukraine, a nascent democracy that he has frequently blamed for being illegally invaded.

Mr. Trump told President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine and other European leaders after his call with Mr. Putin that Russia and Ukraine would have to find a solution to the war themselves, just days after saying that only he and Mr. Putin had the power to broker a deal. And he backed away from his own threats to join a European pressure campaign that would include new sanctions on Russia, according to six officials who were familiar with the discussion. They spoke on condition of anonymity to describe a private conversation.

I don't think trump devotees will like this reporting so they will question its credibility.............as they always do when reporting makes them uncomfortable.

Turns out, the war isn't so easy to stop on day one. Not that anyone took his promise seriously outside of those who hang on his every word.

Backing down on threats to join the Europeans with economic pressure on Russia right after speaking to Vlad. Wow, who would have guessed? I wonder what Don was promised since he already has a new, okay a new used plane?

Their account sheds light on Mr. Trump’s decision to throw up his hands when it comes to a peace process that he had previously promised to resolve in just 24 hours. And, unless he again reverses course, Monday’s developments left Mr. Putin with exactly what he wanted: not only an end to American pressure, but the creation of a deep fissure inside the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, between the Americans and their traditional European allies, who say they are going ahead with sanctions anyway.

Don can't resist giving in to dictators. I guess because he is so envious of their power.

The one issue I would caution Trunp on is Americas position on human rights and civil liberties. Europe, for all it's decline in freedom, cannot be the region that owns the human rights mantle. I am slightly concerned about the cuts to U.S State Department human rights groups if I underatand correctly. You can't passively avoid hearing about human right abuses sinply because the nations you closed deals with have sketchy huamn right records (Ontario included). This Goodwill is worth many trillions to the U.S, by far its most powerful asset even as some might sggest otherwise.

The NARRATIVE continues......

Not exactly true.

The "I give up" comes with even more restrictive sanctions....meaning if a nation does any business with Russia they are given the exact same sanctions. No third party import/exports....complete isolation.

And the ghost ship fleet are not ghosts anymore....they are cut off from every port. The porting of one of these ships is the same as automatic sanctions.

That's not nothing....just saying. Russia has been surviving off of ghost ship oil sales. (Pure barter of goods for oil which bypasses the banking system).

EU Adopts New Russia Sanctions Without US

The EU and the UK have approved a blistering new round of sanctions against Russia. The coordinated attack, targeting Moscow’s shadow fleet and military sectors, aims to put pressure on President Vladimir Putin to agree to a 30-day unconditional ceasefire with Ukraine.

Donald Trump’s two-hour phone call with Vladimir Putin marked yet another pivot in the Ukrainian peace process. As the US president seems to be distancing himself from the issue, Pope Leo XIV, who already took his stance on the war in Ukraine, may play a part in the Vatican becoming a location for future negotiations.

‘We Will See How Russia Behaves’: Trump In No Rush To Sanction Russia

Are these articles incorrect?

TRUMP realizes the liberal world leaders in Europe have no problem with the killing and would rather send people to their deaths and further destroy Ukraine than to participate in anything that could be perceived as a win for TRUMP.
TRUMP has made it clear his goal is to stop the killing.

I do wonder how many of flock actually believed the 24 hour thing, or that he'd stop the war at all.

You'd need to be absolutely ignorant and spectacularly gullible to believe that.

We'll never know. We only know they'll blame others.

Yes and no.
They are out of date with the rapidly changing situation. Trump follows his own timelines and agendas and expects others to conform to them. (Whether they do or not is a whole other subject)

Trump is not closely aligned with NATO as they have NOT kept up with their portion of the agreements. And Europe has more to fear from Russia than the US does.

When Zelenski won't budge on anything and Putin constantly lies....the two parties are on a path of self destruction. And there doesn't seem to be any way of stopping it. (Which I have predicted)

Trump can and will drop a hammer. He has never shied away from doing it before. I've not seen anything to indicate he will not place sanctions at the drop of a hat.
BUT....

Rulers are held in place by the people and militaries.

So....in truth it's going to be up to 4th parties to end the war.

Europe talks tough....but like our congress....not much teeth lately.

Leaders of European countries, and the citizens of those countries, realize what Dotard does not. Any appeasement of Don's friend Putin opens the door for Russia to keep menacing its neighbors. Or maybe he does realize but doesn't care.

trump's full throated support of Ukraine and the US joining Europeans in severe sanctions on Russia would help. Dotard stepping away from peace negotiations certainly doesn't.

Dems have nothing else, every Dem scheme and narrative has failed. America just laughs and mocks them now. This did make Dems and liberals easy to spot, just look for the extreme sourpuss faces. :auiqs.jpg:

Cool, hopefully those European citizens also realize Putin menacing its neighbors isn't a US problem.
