Putin's New Year Speech

Every New Year's Eve, Putin gives a speech to his country, right when the clock strikes 12:00 and the next year officially begins, followed by the Russian national anthem.

A bit Bill Clinton-ish but not bad......To his credit I believe Vlad loves his country and works to make it stronger.

That said he would toss a western baby in a wood chipper in a heartbeat if it meant a ruble for the Motherland.

Putin got his start by working for the mayor of the newly renamed St. Petersburg.

The mayor was corrupt a.f. He even sold food meant for the poor and hungry on the black market.

The mayor was so corrupt that even the extremely corrupt police had to step in and arrest him.

But Putin refused to testify against his boss, the mayor, in court. The mayor got off Scott free.

Boris Yeltsin, the then president of Russia, also extremely corrupt, saw what Putin did and he picked Putin as his successor.

Why? Because Putin didn't rat on his boss. That's it.

Criminals need people who won't rat on them.
