OK bed-wetters, here's my take on the press conference with Putin. Trump did not go into any details because he wants to maintain the position of a neutral arbiter in this conflict. That is why he is going to call the EU and Ukraine to tell them what was discussed with Putin and let them develop a response. Trump still holds the cards and will make his own judgements about what actions he may or may not take.

Putin at the end of the Press Conference suggested the next meeting should be in Russia. Perhaps he wants to try and return the favor of the jets flying over his head when he visited.

Trump is going to have to play hardball and the E.U are going to have to spend more for weapons and perhaps even actively recruit boots on the ground to match N Koreas contribution.

I sense that they are very far apart, perhaps at a point they cannot bridge the gap. As such, America and the West CANNOT keep funding those nations that fund Russias war machine, be it India, China or otherwise.

The pressure unfortunately is going to have to be put on Putin. NATO is going to have to be serious about future involvement if they want to keep Russia from taking all of Ukraine.

It’s not Trump’s place to take actions. The meeting was just an opportunity to get away from Epstein questions. If Zelensky isn’t at the table, it’s just a coffee klatch between a dictator and his acolyte.

Just as likely there’ll be Ukrainian drones flying over head.

Okay let see if Trump will go to Russia with love. I am betting putin will love to see if he comes.

Last time Trump went to Russia (before Presidency), he wanted to meet with him but Putin was not intrested.

A possible deal might include some recognition of Russia's claims from 2014 and matching DMZs on both sides of the current battle lines, similar to Korea.

I suggested two years ago the possibility of an East/West Berlin scenario. It would lead to international influence in the region for sure. Ironically helping both nations economically.

Initially, Trump said he could end this war before taking office. Then right after taking office. And now, after 7 months, direct meetings with both Zelensky and Putin face to face, he still can't close the deal.

The art of no deal, but calling it winning anyways.

And we're still sending Ukraine stuff.

He was definitely playing politics with this issue before he was elected. No way in hell he was going to solve this in one day, that much was clear to anyone even casually paying attention.

This meeting probably convinced Trump that Putin isn't interested in peace. The question is, did he make some threat to prevent Trump from applying sanctions on Indias oil purchases?

This is the time for Trump to play the boss

This is what Dems tweeted. Do your leaders actually WANT to see more death and destruction if it will help them sell their party as some false saviour?

This is amazing to me. I know both sides do it to some degree but damn it has to stop.

Politicians lying is one thing. Their supporters letting them get away with it, time after time, is another. Especially with important lies.

Imagine an honest Trump:

I won't be able to end the wars.
I'll greatly increase spending
I'll increase tariffs so much that it stalls the economy recovery we're in.
Gasoline won't get much below $3 a gallon, in most states.
Grocery prices will increase.

He wouldn't get elected right? So now that all of that is happening. how TF is he still getting the support of those who believed him?

Answer: Because political loyalty allows for lying. It's been normalized like trans people. Like gay & interracial marriage. Lying should be an impeachable offense. And yet the lies are protected by the supporters of those who lie.

It was a binary choice and Trump was viewed significantly a better choice than Harris after her four years as V.P under Biden.

That's how it goes when you have two options every election.

Trumps tariffs are going to bring in approx $400-$500B a year it seems, more than I expected. This would mean as much as $2T over four years.

If he wants to win the midterms, he just offers to give every adult citizen a return based on their income taxes or something. Even make it a Mid-term issue and give 25% back to American citizens. The other 75% he should apply directly to your debt and try and balance your deficit.

The deportation is also a big winner with voters.

This is light years away from the direction you were going and I'm certain that no voter believed either candidate is going to keep all their promises. Trump is at least trying to make peace. Whether it takes a day or a year, peace means lives saved.

Trump better carry through on his promise for severe sanctions if there was not a cease fire.
Trump is being played by Trump.

Trump usually over uses his power.

He is under using his power with Putin and Russia. He has to quit being Putin's lap dog.

Trump bully's the weak and fears the strong.

Who do you think pays the tariffs? Businesses by lowering profits or consumers with higher prices. Tariffs are a tax.

Im not going to go over this yet again.

It is what it is, to simplify it for you, at WORST, it's a consumption tax, but it's far more complicate than that. Regardless, he should give a portion back to citizens.

Trump set the table for additional talks.
