You are beating a dead horse. Reality proves that German casualties were far lower in the western front BECAUSE THEY COULD SURRENDER. The WAllies took just over THREE Million German POWS between 1943 and 1945. Only ninety-one thousand German troops surrendered to the Russians, mostly in the last months of the war. The US, British and Commonwealth Armies would have easily defeated ALL the German troops by using the combination of strategic and tactical airpower, effective artillery and material-based tactics, none of which the Soviets Army was able to use. The Soviet idea of effective artillery was to mass guns hub to hub like Napoleonic artillery and shell at random until they ran out of ammo, then launch human wave attacks backed by NKVD machine gun battalions to make sure that the Russian infantry kept moving forward regardless of losses to enemy fire and minefields. To quote Stalin "it takes a very brave man to be a coward in my army". Effective WAllied air power would have isolated the German forces in France and the Low Countries which would have them surrendered in droves just as happened in the real world. Starving troops without ammo are just POWs waiting to be rounded up. The Falaise pocket demonstrated that, out of the roughly one hundred thousand trapped men, fifty thousand exfiltrated through the gap, ten thousand were killed and forty thousand surrendered. Read that again and try to understand it FORTY PERCENT of the engaged forces chose to surrender to the WAllies rather than retreat or die fighting.

And the Soviets didn't kill eighty percent of the German forces, they killed eighty percent of the Infantry. the WAllies killed far more aircraft, ships, soft skinned vehicles and probably a plurality of the armored vehicles.

Well, given that Stalin murdered tens of millions of Russians to consolidate and maintain his power, and given the misery that the Soviet Union imposed on numerous nations, one could make a good case that Stalin was even worse than Hitler and that the Soviet Union was an even more brutal tyranny than Nazi Germany. This was two evil regimes fighting each other, and FDR chose to help the worst of the two evils.

The much better move would have been to let the Soviet Union collapse and then work with the German resistance to bring down Hitler.
