Punishing Children for "Child Pornography"

In this case police told a father that his eleven year old daughter could be charged with child porn when she was the victim of a predator:

Columbus, Ohio, authorities are investigating two police officers who casually discussed charging an 11-year-old girl with manufacturing child porn.

Why is child porn different from adult porn? Because children do not have the capacity to consent to participate in porn. That being the case, the should not be punished for "child porn."

The adults involved, if any? Lock them up and weld their cell door shut for all I care. The kids need counseling, if they can find a counselor these days who won't immediately refer them to a "gender specialist."

As a dad of 27 yo son who went through the public school....
A wife who taught middle school....
And just a cantankerous old codger, possibly a curmudgeon.....

The schools are definitely overly sexualized.

From puritanical standards to hypersexuality it's too much either way. Sure sex is part of adult life...but when a pre-pubescent child knows exactly and can explain in great detail how to use a condom but hasn't the foggiest clue what a gazebo is....there's a problem.
There's a LOT more to life and living than sex.

Teachers are NOT parents, they may be a part of the community leadership but that doesn't doesn't entitle them to be the sole arbiters of community morality. No matter what the school board wants.

There's a concept of "Judicial Restraint" that needs to be applied here. Just because a governing body can legislate or decide something doesn't mean that they should because doing so is extremely problematic.
Which is exactly the chaos we are currently experiencing.

The State is not a good parent no more so than are the travellers in the local bus terminal.

And this stems from a real problem in our system of having no checks or balances at the school board level. School boards are often elected. Some appointed. Some overly zealous School boards indeed want to parent other people's children. As if this is a great idea. It never has been in practice or reality because the rule of thumb is that foster parents and foster children both misbehave constantly and outrageously.

Why turning normal kids with parents into foster children at odds with their natural parents is beyond my understanding.
