Price Fixing. Here's The Proof.

What state are you in? I haven't found that to be true in the west coast states.

As I said, there are many different brands of filtered mini cigars. And most of them are what I said they were. The same size as a cigarette and in a pack of 20. All of which you can buy cartons of. Which are also the same size as a carton of cigarettes. Neither does it matter what state I live in. No doubt those brands of mini cigars are sold throughout the U.S. Including Europe and other places. Just like any brand of cigarette is.

I understand if you don't have any actual evidence to support your claims.

What more proof would you need other than what I gave you. From the prices that some other states charge, I'm pretty lucky that my state only charges $2.00 per pack. Also, don't ask me for proof that I can buy the filtered mini cigars for the price I said. There most likely is another website that will say how much a pack of filtered mini cigars is per state. So you would just be wasting my time.

You are wrong. But I was a little wrong myself. In the state that I live in, the state charges a $2.00 tax per pack of cigarettes. Without that state tax, the pack of cheap cigarettes I spoke of wouldn't be $6.40 per pack. They would be $4.40 per pack. But compared to the filtered mini cigars I spoke of that sell for $1.17 per pack, a pack of cigarettes would be about four times higher than that. Four times meaning .20 cents over what they would be at four times more. Also, as I said, mini cigars are more expensive to make than a regular cigarette. If somebody can sell a pack of filtered mini cigars for $1.17 per pack and still make a profit, cigarette makers should be able to sell a pack of cigarettes for around $0.80 cents a pack and still make a profit too. .80 cents per pack is a hell of a lot less than $4.40 per pack. And as you may have seen if you ever looked, some brands of cigarette can sell for over $10.00 dollars a pack. All this means to me collusion and price fixing.

I can think of a way that cigarette companies can get away with it. By saying that they keep prices artificially high to discourage smoking. But you would have to be a complete moron to buy that story.
Come to MN if'n ya want real sticker shock. Lot of people rolling their own

Since you give no brand info, there is no way I can verify. However, I can guarantee, you won't find a 20 pack of smokes ANYWHERE on the west coast for $1.17. There are special prices on reservations and for native produced cigs because they are not subject to the democrats' tax schemes. Also, some tobacco producing states provide price incentives for products produced in their states. BTW, what is your problem with providing proof of your allegations? Are you afraid that someone might know what state you live in?

There has been collusion in the past between the manufacturers of light bulbs in both the U.S. and Europe. In 1924 they formed what was called The Phoebus Cartel. They lowered the lifespan of light bulbs from around 2500 hours to around 1000 hours. It also allowed them to set whatever price they wanted without fear of competition. Here's the proof.

As I contended in another thread that got closed down because I didn't provide the proof I wasn't asked for, the same thing still goes on. Why? Basically because the wealthy and big business are above the law. The instance I brought up concerns the price for a pack of cigarettes.

If I could afford to smoke them, the cheapest I can buy a pack of cigarettes is for about $6.40 per pack. I looked into filtered mini cigars. As it turns out, the tobacco used in mini cigars has to be age for months if not years. That has to increase their price. A mini cigar also contains around 3 times the amount of tobacco than a regular cigarette uses. That too has to increase the price that it costs to manufacture them.

I was able to find a place that sells filtered mini cigars for $1.17 per pack. I think it is collusion between cigarette manufacturers to make them sell cigarettes for a minimum price of $6.40 per pack when a pack of the more expensive to make filtered mini cigars sell for a minimum price of $1.17.

Also, looking it up, the federal government doesn't require that cigarettes be sold at a minimum price. Though some states do have laws that require cigarette wholesalers and retailers to charge a minimum percentage markup for cigarette sales. But to go from $1.17 to $6.40 is a hell of a markup! Those laws don't account for anything near that amount of a price markup. The lowest percentage of a price markup was 1.65%. Though in Pennsylvania, a Bill called HB 1300 would gradually increase that percentage to 2027 to be 8.5%. Which still doesn't account for that much difference in price.

If you are interested in knowing about that, here is a website for you.

Having said that, I can tell you that if I could find a way to buy cigarettes at a cheaper price on the black market, I would be severely tempted to do so.
You start a thread about one thing, and always end up talking about cigarettes after that.

An ad or a website.

I don't care about other states or any state, just some evidence of your claim.

I just went through all that in post #11. If you are really interested, give it a look
:icon_rolleyes:

Are you a Democrat or something? Taxes play a much bigger role in pricing than you think. Why only count your state's excise tax? What about your state's sales tax?

There is also a federal excise tax of $1/pack.

And many totalitarian local governments also tax them too. For instance, if you're in Chicago the city charges $1.18, Cook county imposes a $3 tax and the state of Illinois imposes a $2.98 excise tax.

That's $7.16 just in excise tax. That's not counting the sales tax and hidden taxes that occur between the tobacco farm and your body. The trucking company is taxed, the fuel is taxed, etc, etc..

Never forget, Democrats use taxes as a weapon to oppress the poor and stifle their economic mobility. Lawmakers smoke fine expensive stogies, poor people smoke cigarettes. That's why cigars are exempt from such massive taxation.

This thread was always about cigarettes and why they are priced as they are.
Except you started off talking about light bulbs. And you did the same in another thread, if I'm not wrong.

The gas station that I can buy cigarettes for around $6.40 per pack doesn't have an ad or a website. The only way I could provide proof is to buy a pack there, scan and save the receipt and then add it to my photos. From there, attach it to a reply. I'm not about to go through all that trouble. As for buying a pack of filtered mini cigars for $1.17 per pack, I can provide some proof that it close to what you want. This only shows what they can be bought for by the carton. But it should do.
