There has been collusion in the past between the manufacturers of light bulbs in both the U.S. and Europe. In 1924 they formed what was called The Phoebus Cartel. They lowered the lifespan of light bulbs from around 2500 hours to around 1000 hours. It also allowed them to set whatever price they wanted without fear of competition. Here's the proof.

Phoebus cartel - Wikipedia

As I contended in another thread that got closed down because I didn't provide the proof I wasn't asked for, the same thing still goes on. Why? Basically because the wealthy and big business are above the law. The instance I brought up concerns the price for a pack of cigarettes.

If I could afford to smoke them, the cheapest I can buy a pack of cigarettes is for about $6.40 per pack. I looked into filtered mini cigars. As it turns out, the tobacco used in mini cigars has to be age for months if not years. That has to increase their price. A mini cigar also contains around 3 times the amount of tobacco than a regular cigarette uses. That too has to increase the price that it costs to manufacture them.

I was able to find a place that sells filtered mini cigars for $1.17 per pack. I think it is collusion between cigarette manufacturers to make them sell cigarettes for a minimum price of $6.40 per pack when a pack of the more expensive to make filtered mini cigars sell for a minimum price of $1.17.

Also, looking it up, the federal government doesn't require that cigarettes be sold at a minimum price. Though some states do have laws that require cigarette wholesalers and retailers to charge a minimum percentage markup for cigarette sales. But to go from $1.17 to $6.40 is a hell of a markup! Those laws don't account for anything near that amount of a price markup. The lowest percentage of a price markup was 1.65%. Though in Pennsylvania, a Bill called HB 1300 would gradually increase that percentage to 2027 to be 8.5%. Which still doesn't account for that much difference in price.

If you are interested in knowing about that, here is a website for you.

Having said that, I can tell you that if I could find a way to buy cigarettes at a cheaper price on the black market, I would be severely tempted to do so.

Most of that price is the excise tax on cigarettes.

Filtered mini cigars have a tax loophole.

How many in the pack? Al Capone's only have 4. Multiply the number of cigarettes in a normal pack (20) and you have $5.85 a pack. BTW, most of the price of a pack of smokes is DEMOCRAT-PASSED TAXES. Your collusion conspiracy theory doesn't hold water.

Post the proof that you can buy these at the same location for these prices.

From what I have seen, generally speaking you can't order cigarettes on line from an Indian reservation store and have them mailed to you. Even if you buy cigarettes directly from an Indian reservation store, if you aren't a tribal member, you will still get charged whatever the state tax is.

Its called taxes

You are wrong. But I was a little wrong myself. In the state that I live in, the state charges a $2.00 tax per pack of cigarettes. Without that state tax, the pack of cheap cigarettes I spoke of wouldn't be $6.40 per pack. They would be $4.40 per pack. But compared to the filtered mini cigars I spoke of that sell for $1.17 per pack, a pack of cigarettes would be about four times higher than that. Four times meaning .20 cents over what they would be at four times more. Also, as I said, mini cigars are more expensive to make than a regular cigarette. If somebody can sell a pack of filtered mini cigars for $1.17 per pack and still make a profit, cigarette makers should be able to sell a pack of cigarettes for around $0.80 cents a pack and still make a profit too. .80 cents per pack is a hell of a lot less than $4.40 per pack. And as you may have seen if you ever looked, some brands of cigarette can sell for over $10.00 dollars a pack. All this means to me collusion and price fixing.

I can think of a way that cigarette companies can get away with it. By saying that they keep prices artificially high to discourage smoking. But you would have to be a complete moron to buy that story.

I just went through all that in post #11. If you are really interested, give it a look.

WA democrats know all about taxing sins. There's about a $10 per liter tax between sales and liter tax on booze and a common domestic pack of smokes is about $10 unless you buy native-made smokes, $6-$8. The same smokes on the reservations cost $4.50 -$6 per pack.

The brand of filtered mini cigars I was speaking of are just like many other brands like that. And they are exactly like cigarettes in size and the pack of 20 that they come in. As for any taxes placed on cigarettes, no doubt there was both democrat and republican support for whatever Bill that placed that tax on cigarettes. Also, my collusion and price fixing accusation holds water extremely well. Maybe my reply in post #11 can help clear things up for you.

What state are you in? I haven't found that to be true in the west coast states.

I would be willing to bet that WA republicans know far more about it. And Trump is the leader in that regard. His import taxes-tariffs are just going to end up being a tax that the consumer has to pay. Also, if the price that native americans pay for a pack of cigarettes at a reservation store is what you say, that just goes to show that they are in on the price fixing and collusion.
