Liberals may mock the disenchanted conservative and libertarian movement that is now bubbling to the surface, but they do so at their own political peril. Obama and the liberal Democrat leadership are over-reaching by considerable margins.

A backlash is coming...

so sad, so out of touch with reality... so out of power...

Obama Approval Rating Increases to 67%

Yes... the cult of personality.. cue 'Living Colour' singing in my head now

He can lie, cheat, spend like a drunken sailor at a 3 for 1 hooker fest, appoint every cooked person he wants... and the goo-goo eyed ignorant still give their 'approval'... for now

All celebrity popularity fades.. and once the glam is worn off, Obama will finally get a dose of reality... and the obamabots will too, except the whacko ones like Chris and bobo the assclown

I fear that Obama will turn the US into a welfare State and we'll become just like Venezuela. Once that happens, there can be no 'populist surge' since politicians revered as godlike will continue to get elected by the ignorant masses. We may only have one more shot before Obama/Biden/Reid/Pelosi destroy this country. Let's not mess it up.

I honestly hope you centrist left leaning Democrats continue to gloat and feel so secure. It will only take ten to fifteen percent of the population to switch their perspective to a more conservative one for the conservatives to gain back control of Congress and the White House. Just like so many Republicans thought they were invincible and became arrogant, the Dems are already there, and they've only been in power for a couple of years in Congress and just a few months in the White House.

Even if the Democratic stimulus package helps, people are going to begin questioning where all this money is going, and they're not going to like the answers they get. There is a fundamental difference between the Dems and Republicans when it comes to taxpayer money. Yes, the Republicans strayed far from their roots, and this is why they lost power, but that can change quickly and most likely will.

So keep on gloating. Underdogs love overconfident opponents.

There is an issue where Democrats are right. While the top 20% may well pay 85% of the taxes, that same top 20% of income earners has widened the gap from the rest of us. The disparity in earnings from the top 5% to 10% versus the middle class has widened a great deal and that is the real problem. But taxing the wealthy more is not necessarily the answer. Finding a way to increase the earnings of the lower 80% of income earners is the thing that we need to concentrate on. If the lower 80% had increased earnings, they would end up paying a greater percentage of the overall taxes. The question is how do we do this?

from all I can ascertain it isn't from taxing the crap out of the wealthy and the small business, these are the people with the wherwithal to provides jobs. the alternative is to have a collective,, where we are all equally poor, that my friend seems to be the goal of the obmabots.

I can remember on other boards Bush supporters making the exact same kind of post, just 5 short years ago.

Obama's popularity will sink the second people see higher utility bills (because of his over taxing of them) and that the economy wasn't 'stimulated' by the uber pork bill.

So ride high while you can, but remember, the higher you climb, the greater the fall, and make no mistake, the fall will come, it always does.

Yes, the Democrats are right. The only problem is they caused it. Work in any high-tech company in America and you'll find a lot of foreign workers. Why? Because we can't find enough qualified Americans. Why? Because Americans are getting dumber. Our Nation's Public Schools are pumping out dumber and dumber kids. That's where all the unskilled earners come from. We pay more per student on education than any other industrialized nation on the planet, and we get the least bang for our buck. That's the reality. The NEA is largely to blame and they're in bed with the Democrat Party.

Rasmussen shows Obama's approval remaining around 60% - it is his dissaproval rating that has begun to rise in the last couple of weeks.

Anti government sentiment is also rising.

Sooner rather than later, he is going to face increasing numbers who question if his policies are right for America...

This thread starts our with the false assumption that populism is a conservative movement.

Sinatra I am ten times the populist that you are and I am defintely NOT a conservative as you understand that term.

Obama and the liberal Democrat leadership are over-reaching by considerable margins.

Yes they probably are...the economic is collapsing under it's own greed.

What you apparently do not yet understand is that the welfare is going to the top 1% of the population.

9 TRillion dollars has been promised to the banking community.

The rest of the nation is, we're informed, going to be revitalized with $780 billion.

Pay attention, and stop trying to shoehorn the problem into you own outdated and incorrect liberal.conservative world view.

It was wrong to begin with, but given the evidence now, it is inexcusable for you to continue with this stupid theory that half the world is good hard working people and the other half parsites.

That was never the reality we faced because welfare was never the root source of this nation's problems, either.

Wake up and smell the BALANCE SHEETS, Sinatra.

Here is an interesting take on a possible rift in the Dimocratic party that may be able to be exploited

Joel Kotkin Says Tensions Are Growing Between the 'Gentry' and 'Populist' Factions of the Democratic Party - WSJ.com

That rift has been there for the last thirty years at least.

It is essantially the same CLASS rift that exists in the Republican party only it appears to me that your Republican loyals are just now figuring it out.

The bailout is NOT about liberalism or socialism it's a desperate effort to save the CLASSIST system which put the RNC and DNC leaders ever on top of both parties.

Sooner or later most American are going to understand this, I think.

Obama beat McCain 52-48. McCain was the worst candidate the Republicans could have chosen and a 2.5 % swing in the votes would have made him president and he lost because he embraced the same sort of bailout plan the Democrats just approved And you think this is a center left country? You are insane.

Obama's got a high approval rating because he is saying all the right things Americans will catch on before long and figure out that he's doing entirely different things than he's saying.

There is nothing populist about the Republican party.

Lowering taxes for the rich and financing useless wars with massive debt is their MO.
