Getting a pope in charge to promote religious efficiency, firing some of these do-nothing cardinals makes a lot of sense. The number of cardinals has increase exponentially, even while attendance at Catholic churches and enrollment at Catholic schools has declined.

The hypothetical pontificate of Pope Donaldus Magnus I would bring a lot of modern efficiency to the RCC, and Catholics agree that would be a blessing.
