Pope Francis denounces attempts to close southern border as ‘madness’

And once again you as an unsaved Reprobate sinner, don't understand Christ's mission. And that is to bring Salvation to mankind via His death on the Cross.
You missed all that stuff in the Gospel didn’t you?

I just read a transcript of the interview. Norah O'Donnell is yet another fake Catholic who sold her soul. Every question she asked pushed the atheist leftwing agenda.

This pope isn't my cup of tea. I much preferred the canonized St. John Paul II who spoke of the abomination of socialism and denounced abortion in no uncertain terms at every opportunity. I remember when he did so right in front of Clinton's big red nose.

Cardinal Wojtywa, President Reagan, PM Maggie Thatcher, and Lech Walesa were the driving force behind the fall of the Iron Curtain, the Berlin Wall, and the Soviet Union.

It's not just the Gospel and the New Testament - it's all over the books of the Law and Prophets of the Old Testament as well.

Isaiah 58:6-10

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,

and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness[a] will go before you,
and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
9 Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.
“If you do away with the yoke of oppression,
with the pointing finger and malicious talk,
10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.

Leviticus 19:

15 “You shall not commit any injustice in judging the poor, nor shall you show partiality to the mighty. You shall judge your neighbor with righteousness. 16 You are not to spread slander among your people, nor shall you act against the life of your neighbor. I am the Lord.

17 “You shall not hate your brother in your heart, nor shall you rebuke your brother in any way, lest you bear sin because of him. 18 You shall not seek vengeance nor bear a grudge against the children of your people. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.[b] I am the Lord.

Psalm 72:12 For he delivers the needy when he calls, the poor and him who has no helper.

Proverbs 14:21 Whoever despises his neighbor is a sinner, but blessed is he who is generous to the poor.

Proverbs 14:31 Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.

Proverbs 16:19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.

Proverbs 22:9 The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.

So yes, Pope Francis simply was stating what is written in both the Old and New Testaments and what has been a foundation of Christianity since its birth.

The Gospel is not meant for people to "earn" salvation via works. And G-d certainly never advocated for the government to be a charity. In a nutshell, the Gospel is meant to transform people out of their old lives into new.

Amazing watching you justify denying help to the poor, sick or suffering just because of the source

Do you really think Jesus would turn down helping the suffering just because it was done collectively by a government of We the People?

Yes He would. He COMMANDS it from His disciples. The ONLY LEGITIMATE function of the government is law and order, as Scripture details in Romans.

And if his disciples form a Government that chooses to help people who are suffering, you think Jesus would object?

You are one sorry excuse for a Christian

You're correct in the sense that people shouldn't do "Good works" for the sole intention of gaining salvation. That said, if a person is to gain salvation, that person's "works" will be evident because of the salvation that person has received. They go hand in hand - without question.

As for God advocating about helping the poor, the oppressed, the needy, etc - you may want to take a look at my previous post. It's all over the Old Testament. And when God spoke in the Old Testament, he was usually addressing nations as a whole - so yes, he was addressing their leaders and "governments" as well.

The problem is when said governments go on to ignore G-d, just as the US is doing now, then the nation falls under judgement. A country cannot exist without borders, and the US Constitution is very specific in what the Fed can and cannot do
And providing cradle to grave socialism ain't it.

Pope Francis denounced efforts to limit migration at the U.S.-Mexico border on Sunday, calling out a Texas effort to shut down a Catholic charity “madness.”

The Catholic leader said in a “60 Minutes” interview with Norah O’Donnell that American leaders should instead embrace forgiveness toward migrants entering the country.

“Migration is something that makes a country grow,” he said. “They say that you Irish migrated and brought the whiskey, and that the Italians migrated and brought the mafia. Migrants sometimes suffer a lot. They suffer a lot.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) in February attempted to subpoena Annunciation House, a Catholic charity that acts as a temporary boarding house for migrants from Mexico. He accused the group of “alien harboring, human smuggling, and operating a stash house.”

“That is madness. Sheer madness,” Francis said. “To close the border and leave them there, that is madness.”

“The migrant has to be received,” he continued, advocating against GOP efforts to close the southern border. “Thereafter, you see how you are going to deal with him. Maybe you have to send him back, I don’t know, but each case ought to be considered humanely.”

Says the man in the pointy hat who lives in a city walled off by 30 foot walls and where ingress/egress are tightly controlled by men with guns.....Walls for me but not for thee.

Air Abbott needs to airlift a few thousand into Vatican City.
lol

There is a wall around Vatican City.

While ignoring the HARMS to the American people.

Harms of Illegal Immigration

1. Americans lose jobs. (especially Whites due to affirmative action).
2. Wage reduction.
3. Tax $ lost (due to off books work + lower wages paid).
4. Remittance $$$ lost. ($148 Billion/year). Remittance flows worldwide in 2017
5. Tax $$ lost to immigrants on welfare.
6. Increased crime.
7. Increased traffic congestion.
8. Increased pollution.
9. Overcrowding in hospital ERs.
10. Overcrowding in recreational facilities.
11. Overcrowding in government offices.
12. Overcrowding in schools.
13. Decrease in funds available for entitlements.
14. Cultural erosion.
15. Overuse of scarce resources (oil, gasoline, fresh water, jobs, electricity, food, etc)
What states are in danger of running out of water?

Water scarcity is a major concern across the world, and the United States is no exception. The western parts of the United States, including California, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico, have been experiencing water

"Give unto God what is God's and unto Caesar what is Caesars."

Obviously the border issue needs to be handled. I'm 100% non-partisan/independent when it comes to politics.

I'm 100% pro military and I respect and admire our veterans. My father, my uncle and my brother in law all served. I would have been proud to serve if called upon.

And yes, our government needs to figure it out and stop playing stupid, childish games solely for political purposes at the expense of human beings.

And yes - EVERY ONE OF THEM IS A HUMAN BEING - no better or worse than any of you, in my Father's eyes.

So stop the nonsense - stop acting like animals and treat people humanly.

Well ,if he loves these filthy illegals ,let us send all of them to the Vatican. Maybe HE can feed them all with 5 loaves and 2 fish.

There is not a pedophilia epidemic in the RCC, and has never been worse than in any other organization. Please stop peddling that leftwing lie. They are just disproportionately trumpeted by the Marxist media. New cases in the US since 2005 are near nil.

I don't care when confused people like rightwinger or fortfun or joe b or crepitus spout their garbage, but I do get upset when conservatives carry water for the Marxist agenda when we all should be allied against it,
The issue to me isn't if it's epidemic or not, it's the fact that the church has an official or unofficial policy to cover it up and protect the criminal priests from justice encouraging them to continuing their sinful, immoral and illegal behavior.

Doesn’t matter if he was the Son of God or not, Jesus still had strong views on helping those who are suffering
Any fool can do that .
Hot air and pious hopes
It's achieving it that is hard .
All he did was get nailed .

Very true
Any large organization can have pedophiles in its midst.
It is how you react that really matters

The church took sides against the victims while they hid and protected the pedophiles. Pray away his carnal vices and send him on his way

The key is protect the infallibility of the church

I couldn't even get through this whole thing (yet)

I am Catholic to the core (as most posters here know) and I say.. For one, why is someone a lot of Catholics say is himself "mad"

criticizing others as being such?

Oh well.. even crazy people are right sometimes.. but not on this.

Why doesn't francis tear down the wall around the Vatican?

hypocrite
