Sorry, conspiracy enthusiasts. Having been peripherally involved in the aftermath of a very similar fire in a vintage near-cathedral size church, I don't buy the arson theory. Old building; very old, very dry timbers under a lead roof. A roof under repair. I've said it in a different thread, the fire at Notre Dame and the earlier one at another church also named "Notre Dame" are so similar. Worker repairing the lead roof overheats. Timber below smolders but does not ignite until hours later. Nobody in the attic to catch it early and probably no smoke detection in that space.

OK, so now some asshole will go trying to find a Muslim lead-roof-repairman to blame it on. When that happens I've just told you what that person is. An asshole.
