No

But I’d like to see a definition of what is included in junk food
IMO, the term 'junk food' is false. Food is not 'junk.' The real problem is over eating.

In a nation that claims to be Christian, this question should not even be asked.
.

Wow! I didn't know that Skittles and Mt. Dew existed in the first century!

Fun archaeological question.

You mean nutritional food like Bologna, Vienna sausages or deviled ham spread?
I ate the shit outta that stuff when I was a kid. That and peanut butter. All we ever ate back then is what they call 'junk food' today. Somehow we survived.

And admit the futility and failure of the whole program.

It is what it is. I didn't create the system. I just think the system operates in a way designed to micromanage people's lives and I am all about freedom, including the freedom to get drunk and smoke some menthols if those are your thing.

Wow! How did I even survive?

I was given three meals a day and if I wanted sweets, I had to earn the money for them. Dinner at grandma's house was always exciting because she worked in a bakery and always had dessert.

"the money" do you mean MY money? How about they get off their 350 lb lard ass and work a job like the rest of us.
Oh no, YOUR money is being spent on nifty matching polo shirts for the DOGE staff.

BTW, most SNAP recipients work. I have not seen any data on their weight though.

Mooching deadbeat welfare types with 8 kids work, interesting theory.

I never had to struggle with a weight issue until I got to make all my own food choices, and even as an adult, I mostly was satisfied with just meals and then dessert when dining out -- again, rare.

I gained some weight when working the night shift in the hospital. Night nurses are some prodigious eaters, and always sugar and fat.

Let's see. Back then we had bubble gum, candy cigarettes, Twinkies, little wax bottles full of flavored sugar syrup, Hershey bars, etc. We had 'five and dime' stores with all kinds of cheap toys and cheap candy where we went to burn our allowance and yard mowing money.

I remember finding a penny and feeling rich because it meant I could go buy a piece of penny candy!

I remember my first "job" was sweeping the floor and straightening bolts of fabric at the little fabric store near my house. My boss paid me with a quarter, and yep, it went for candy and cheap toys.

My mom got mad at me when I went to buy milk for the cat in the middle of a riot. Things were never the same after that.

Borne of another thread, I am looking for a consensus on the matter. It's a simple straight-up yes or no.
I vote yes but only because I've seen what red states can do to legal definitions to get around them.

I grew up on that stuff....
The old man had his own recipe for the canned meat. He would slice it into disks fry it up with onions and then serve it up on a couple pieces of white bread with a good slathering of mustard and mayo. I have to say it was quite tasty! It was probably horrible for your health but it sure hit the spot at the time.
.

My elderly mom used to get that stuff and had so much in the freezer, she'd share it with me, along with the butter. I remember those last few days before my payday being grilled cheese sandwiches! And they were GOOD!
