A dollar has no meaning. It is "fiat" a French word meaning "marker." A dollar is nothing more than a measure of value. If an egg is pegged to $1, then the dollar represents the value of one egg. Peg the egg to $5 and you have not increased the value, you've only changed the marker. The value is the egg, the dollar has no value.

Pay unskilled labor a billion dollars an hour, it will in no way alter the value of the labor performed. The market will seek equilibrium (the term Mac so ignorantly misused earlier.)

The minimum wage as used by you Marxists is a kludge to destroy the lower middle class and drive those escaping back into poverty.

Example: Joe was hired to run parts and tools at a construction site for $10. Joe is a hard worker and listens to what the craftsmen say. So the boss gives Joe a raise to $15 an hour. Joe now has an advantage in purchasing power over the other gophers who didn't work as hard. BUT the Communists come along and con people into creating a $15 minimum wage. The first effect is that all the hard work of Joe is destroyed as he is caste right back to where he started. Even worse, because fiat currency is just a marker, the artificial flooding of the market with 33% more currency causes the ratio of dollars to goods to adjust and Joe LOSES purchasing power, just as the Communist intended from the start.

It is not required that a centralized government plan the economy of a community. The centralized government rises out of the need to protect all of the communities from the capitalist invaders.

Competition and "buyer beware" have no connection with each other. In fact, just the opposite. Competition is what drives firms to provide the best possible product they can deliver. "Buyer beware" should be the motto for democracy, since snake oil is normally what you are voting on.
