Politics divides us too much

Except you can't make decisions like that anymore.

I voted for a Democrat as my US Rep many times. Then, when Obamacare came down the pipe, the Democrats didn't give a **** what their constituents wanted. Hell, Massachusetts elected a Republican Senator to try to stop it.

And still those Democrats, including mine, toed the party line on Obamacare and fucked over their voters in 2010.

And that, my friend, was the beginning of the end split ticket voter.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

This is what Missouri looked like in January 2009...

Trump's inauguration, January 2017...

So... Where did the change occur?

Newsflash, it didn't have a fuckin' thing to do with Trump.

Under Obama the Democrats pulled the rug out from under working class Americans... and once they lost us, they were forced to become more and more progressive to find the votes they needed to be competitive.

2010 was where it all started.

And look at what Missouri looks like now....

I can. It is really quite simple, if you read, watch and judge individually based on the constitution and what stance or vote actually taken on legitimate issues.

Yes, this is why we need to accelerate our efforts to develop Artificial General Intelligence.

So we can replace politicians with it.

You mean like Manchin and Sinema?

They wouldn't vote to end the filibuster, where are they now?

They are not from Tennessee, so have never voted for or against. You have not voted for or against, either, as neither are from, or representing your state.

The fact, that both parties suck (and pretty consistently, lately under present leadership) is all the more reason to pay attention, and vote, not for party, but for or against individual standard bearing candidate of the moment.

But someone is.

There is only ONE US House Rep in Tennessee from the Democrat party.

One Democrat.

And Eight Republicans.

How many were there at the beginning of 2010?

Five Democrats and four Republicans.

🤔

Seeing a trend here?

This is where Democrats lost the plot.

And why is the Government shut down?

Obamacare subsidies and Medicare for illegal immigrants.

Interesting. Looks like the people of Virginia will decide.
Whether to kill them or not? That's quite a cult that you vote for every two years or so. You must be proud of them.

How many times do we have shove shit like this in your face before you stop making excuses?

I already know the answer..... Twelve quadrillion times and then maybe you'll re-think your politics, amirite?

You know, the children that Jay Jones -- who would be the top prosecutor in the state of Virginia -- wants to see murdered so that their parents will adhere to the commands of the Democrat-Antifa-Media Death Cult.

------ Jones then suggested that, presented with a hypothetical situation in which he had only two bullets and was faced with the choice of murdering then-Speaker of the House Todd Gilbert or two dictators, he'd shoot Gilbert "every time," prompting pushback from his former colleague:

Jones: Three people, two bullets
Gilbert, hitler, and pol pot
Gilbert gets two bullets to the head
Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time
Coyner: Jay
Please stop
Jones: Lol
Ok, ok
Coyner: It really bothers me when you talk about hurting people or wishing death on them
It isn't ok
No matter who they are

...

Asked about the years-old text exchange, Coyner condemned Jones's rhetoric and said she sent screenshots of the conversation to Gilbert that day. She said she and Jones haven't spoken since, aside from a brief conversation about policy issues. "On August 8, 2022 I had a text conversation with Jay Jones, what he said was not just disturbing but disqualifying for anyone who wants to seek public office," she told NR in a statement. "Jay Jones wished violence on the children of a colleague and joked about shooting Todd Gilbert. It's disgusting and unbecoming of any public official."

...

Coyner's alarm at her former colleague's violent rhetoric toward Gilbert prompted Jones to call her and explain his reasoning over the phone, a source familiar with the exchange told NR.

According to the source, the Democratic former legislator doubled down on the call, saying the only way public policy changes is when policymakers feel pain themselves, like the pain that parents feel when they watch their children die from gun violence. He asked her to provide counterexamples to disprove his claim.

Then at one point, the source said,
he (jones) suggested he wished Gilbert's wife could watch her own child die in her arms so that Gilbert might reconsider his political views, prompting Coyner to hang up the phone in disgust.

Afterward, Jones continued his barrage of text messages, saying he was just asking questions. Coyner dismissed his excuse via text and chastised Jones for "hopping [sic] Jennifer Gilbert's children would die."

Rather than deny that he had wished death on the children, Jones responded by saying, "Yes, I've told you this before. Only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy."
Faced with more pushback from his frazzled former colleague, Jones somehow took the conversation a step further: "I mean do I think Todd and Jennifer are evil? And that they're breeding little fascists? Yes," he wrote, referring to Gilbert's wife and two young children.

I didn't hear Hillary Clinton's comments but she has a point and you see that in our politics today. You see it online here. We only have one far right extremist in our large extended family and he is a bitter person after marriage failure. Trump uses divisive issues to divide and conquer and control. It amazes me that a petty criminal like Trump has such power over so many. Hate is a powerful tool. Read history if you doubt.

Cankles is so like 2016 when her political asspirations ended

I live in a red state, plain and simple. It does not effect my vote.
The government is shut down, because Trump wants a powerplay without negotiation, and cannot get Democrats to give up healthcare for millions of Americans at, near or below the poverty line, to help finance continues or more tax breaks for the top 1 or 2%, the political donor class. And, there are no medicare subsidies for illegal aliens, in the Democrat proposal. But, you probably knew that.

Thoughts From an Independent

A friend of mine spent many hours organizing a high school class reunion last year, only to have it fall apart because of bitter infighting over politics by his former classmates.

2 of my family members won't be attending our Thanksgiving dinner, because of political disagreements.

At the grocery store I recently watched a shoving match that nearly became a fistfight, all over a provocative political bumper sticker.

A small political rally in my town last November resulted in a number of injuries when a group of folks in the streets were pelted with rocks by passing motorists.

The sad thing about this is these are not isolated events, but now things that go on all over the country with alarming frequency, and while the TV networks (on both sides) don't openly encourage this behavior, they certainly don't discourage it either!

I used to watch the evening news (both FOX and CNN) Now the TV stays off, in favor of long walks and an hour or 2 playing and studying chess before going to bed.

Politics divides us too much, I think.
Politics doesn't divide us ENOUGH.

I want nothing to so with dimocrap scum. Nothing.

The below isn't a One-Off. Only a fool would think so. This is just another in a long line of what dimocraps support.....

And you wanna make nice with these SCUM? Eat one. A big one.

Sorry about your Thanksgiving. My family is totally split down the middle. The informed ones are progressives and independents while the unread, uninformed, and super old ones are conservatives.

We have a strict no politics rule in place. I have to check a maga sister-in-law on that rule regularly with a “no politics” reminder whenever she tries a maga joke/dig about Biden or whatever. We get through it just fine.

As far as disagreements outside families I saw a fight last week at a sports bar over taunting spectating a sports game. Asshats find each other to fight for any reason. Don’t let it get to you.

The Trump deployment of military is a red line though. Protesting will escalate. Americans don’t put up with authoritarians.

I just looked it up: About 45 million Americans enrolled in either ACA or Medicaid expansion. I'm not particularly a fan of the ACA (I think there are better alternative systems), but 2026 enrollment begins on November 1, and some shit's going to hit the fan if the money isn't there. That's a lot of people who are going to see a big cost increase they can't afford, and/or lose their health insurance.

Just more chaos. And America voted for it. So we deserve it.

Lie much??

The proposal is the proposal. Try to stick to actual reality of what is being proposed. Whining about positions politicians took while running for office it not the same, if it is not what is being proposed as the law of the land, or to break an impasse. Get a grip.

That's fake news.

Republicans passed a clean Continuing Resolution to continue funding the government based on Biden era spending levels.

The Democrats demanded additional spending negotiations because they have no power otherwise.

The Democrats shutdown the government in order to make a power play.

Your TDS robs you of the ability to see reality.

And this ^^^ in the same thread that you claim we should vote based on their positions----unless its campaign time? LOL, Try again six.

Remember the last CR earlier this year?
Schumer caved and now AOC is going to run against him for his seat.

The Marxist/socialist wing of the party went nuts.

That's what's driving this shutdown, Schumer is fighting for his life.
