Politicization of climate change; caring more about animals than people

It's sad that we can't trust politicians to come up with sound approaches to combating the effects of climate change and other environmental problems.

It's not sound to pick winners and losers through political means -- displacing workers in traditional industries and propping up untested technologies at the expense of the traditional industries. It's not sound to enact policies which raise food prices and exacerbate world hunger. It's not sound to treat people like they're less important than obscure animals species.

Maybe the rightwing would have been more open to the idea of combating climate change if the leftwing had kept that in mind.

Now things are so polarized there's not much chance of progress in any case. I'm just thinking about what might have been if the environment hadn't been so politicized and smuggified to being with.
