he did not get the oil he wanted from kuwait and went scorched earth

saddam was like iran now, a problem for the entire area
he was right, when kuwait would not bail him out for his losing war
effort againt iran to remake persia into and empire he burned the oil
saddam thought kuwait was over producing and had strong ties with the USA
