The only flaw that has developed is this one IMHO -
Once upon a time the majority was respected as being rational minded when it came to interpreting the constitution and it's laws that were set forth by it's founder's for whom had acted on the majorities behalf.

Later as the true majority became the minority by manipulative design, and the laws were either being added to or amended in order to fit with the new false or fake majorities mindset, is exactly when we began to see a serious decline in many thing's across this nation.

I believe our Founders understood that mankind is flawed and often times easily swayed. That's why they placed so many checks and balances within our government model. Three branches of government; the electoral college; States rights vs. Federal jurisdiction; and, ultimately, the written law of the land -- the Constitution. They impregnated our system of governance with moral and ethical standards that would be difficult to alter or ignore.

In a Democracy, 5 wolves and a lamb can vote on what's for dinner. In a Constitutional Republic, the lamb is constitutionally protected from the wolves.
