Well, there you go. 20 years as a cop and it's the same over and over again. Paulitician takes the oft worn path of condeming and judging the actions of officers WITHOUT even knowing the facts, EXCEPT those facts as conveyed by the parents. That is why each and every patrol cruiser out there MUST have dashboard cams.
Police officers have a duty to protect. The kid runs red lights and drives wrecklessly and we KNOW that the cops and their department are going to be held responsible if that kid T-bones a mini-van with kids in it. Even if they break off the pursuit, they are going to be held responsible.
You know it never got any easier. You're involved in a situation, adrenaline is pumping, and you have seconds to assess the situation and act or not. Then the media, the attorneys and every idiot with an opinion tells you how wrong you obviously were. Why didn't you KNOW that the kid would drive a mile away and then kill a family in a mini-van? You should have done everything you could have to stop him.
Those that can, do. Those that can't, opine. Talk is cheap.
