🚨 NEW: The Trump administration's DHS has just ended collective bargaining for TSA officers.

Traditionally, government employees are treated well. My father used to call them "sweetheart unions". He was in the clothing workers union. That was tough and needed.
i can only speak for the PO....and no they were not treated well....terrible people running the place....

Privatizing tea would be a disaster. It would also lower wages at a time when all workers in the nation should have a big wage boost.

The reason why the wages would be reduced is that everyone knows that working TSA is a low skill job done indoors in air conditioned surroundings. Its an easy way to make a living, and the government overpays

Bullshit.

I'd say the opposite. Most good managers don't want to deal with the hassle of "union work rules" and will prefer to work in a business friendly Scab environment.

I've been in the work world for 33 years since leaving the Army. I would say in all that time, I only had two managers I would classify as "Good". The good managers look out for their workers, and get better performance from them.

The bad managers think that ruling by fear works well, then they wonder why they can't keep talent.

So they are taxpayer paid and hold the taxpayer hostage with job actions to make the taxpayer's pay more.

Genius.

Works for me.

How often do government workers go on strike?

Not very often.

Now, I do have problems with some public workers unions. The FOP and PBA seem to think it's their mission to keep bad cops on the force and even out of jail when they abuse their authority. the Teacher's unions are kind of awful.

But most of them, just trying to make sure their folks get good benefits.

TSA officers are some of the rudest people I have ever encountered.

No, but Unions are a good protection against bad managers.
The real reason for Unions in Federal Government is so that money allocated to these agencies have percentages funneled back to Democrat party coffers for elections. It also ensures that Dems have a ready made army of election infrastructure to put up for any election....It's corrupt like any other Democrat operation.

And classless...Most of the interaction with TSA in places like airports in major cities are filled with low educated, unprofessional, hood rats, with a badge and a gun...What could be a better recipe....?

So you admit they never go on strike.

(In fact, they are largely prohibited from going on strike, as we saw with the PATCO Debacle.)

Why would a government employee "go on strike" anyhow?

The politicians in charge are often leftists who are in on the scam, and will sign a contract without a fight. After all, it isn't their money.

The unions sure the hell don't want a strike, dues are harder to collect if the rank and file aren't getting paid.

Further, a strike would rip the veil off the scam, and it would be exposed that most of the employees really aren't needed as the system doesn't collapse in their absence .

You idiot, PATCO violated their own contract by conducting an unauthorized strike in violation of their own contract language.

It's called a wildcat.

You are making my point for me... If they can't strike, they don't really have that much leverage.

Do you really want civil servants to have "leverage" over old ladies who have to eat cat food to pay their increased taxes?

You are missing the point.

I want civil servants to be satisfied with their jobs so they are more inclined to make sure those old ladies aren't eating cat food.
