The best way to unclog it depends on what is causing the clog in the first place. What did you put in your sink?

Do you have any small children at home? If so, find out what the hell they put in the sink.

Cutting my hair ?
few pieces fell in

so I just drop the snake in
Will I hit the clog or the bend first in the pipe

I tried 2 hrs sticking middle finger and then wire hangar to zero affect

all kind of snakes on line of different sizes

Can someone please guide me in how best to use a snake
. Do I just jam it down hard or should I be more slow and meticulous on the snake

Just want to be as efficient but very delicate

I don't know how mechanically inclined you are, but the first thing I would do is put a bucket under the sink, pull off the trap and check to see if that's where it's clogged.

95% of the time that's where the clog is.

I've never used one of those nylon snakes, so I can't really speak to their effectiveness.

It's just best to not put garbage in your pipes in the first place.

The very first thing you do is get a bucket to catch the water from the drain assembly and clear the pea trap, i.e., do what Muhammed said to do!

If the clog is not in the pea trap, which is most likely, try Drano or Liquid Plumber per directions.

A snake or a plumber would be the last resort, not the first. Also, if you need to use a snake, leave the pea trap off and snake the main drain line from beneath the sink.

Last time I needed to clean a drain, the P-trap was okay and there was a huge mat of hair just beneath the drain. Took a chopstick and gave it a poke and out it popped into the waiting bucket underneath.

First thing you're going to need to do is to take out the stopper.

Then work the snake down the drain hole a little at a time until you hit the clog.

Easy peasy!
