Capping more than two years of stock-gyrating drama, Pfizer said Monday that it would stop development of danuglipron, its experimental oral GLP-1 medicine to treat obesity, focusing its efforts on another medicine with a different mechanism of action.

Pfizer said in a press release that an asymptomatic volunteer in the company’s studies experienced “potential drug-induced liver injury,” which resolved after stopping the medication. After reviewing all clinical data for the medicine and consulting with regulators, Pfizer decided to halt research on it.

Another magic weight loss pill bites the dust.

If you want your liver to be healthy along with the rest of you just try pushing back from the table.

noooooooooo as a diabetic was I looking into this...the normal appetite is what draws me in but there are some serious problems with the shots...pancreatitis, stomach issues but the biggest threat was to the eyes...so I cant go there..

it has nothing to do with the honest child...o everyone wants one till they get one...we are at a fine dining place and I remarked that one of her pals was a bit chubby....kid leans back looks me dead in the eye and goes "your fat too" size 11 damn it

o please with the push back from the table bullshit of course I do expect a lot of Americans will be losing weight unable to afford food in trumps new world...

Fine, go ahead and destroy your liver.....The shareholders won't care.

You really need to understand why they try bringing those magic pills/shots to market.....It's not about your health.......You are just another meaningless fat body to exploit.

do you not think I know this...not only your liver but your digestive system...I see a lot of people on Facebook doing it and what it does to the face is weird...gives them that old lady look...sunken cheeks etc...I hate shots and take enough pills at my age as is

At least it was killed in trials. It must have really been bad. So many make it through trials only to be pulled later.

As far as obesity goes....
Most people are genetically predisposed to have diabetes. Genetics determine so much....including hunger. People don't realize that most overweight people can eat a full meal but still feel ravenous hungry immediately after consuming the full meal.
Others never get hungry and only notice they need to eat shortly before their blood sugar drops to the point of passing out.

There's a huge amount of disinformation and prejudice associated with obesity. And there is also a ton of mental health issues associated with eating as well....especially with women. (Men not so much) And the fact is it can go all various ways...eating too much or too little or eating overly healthy or complete junk food. (Women are the most likely to be vegan and become irate when those options are not available...indicating a mental health problem)

There's likely never going to be a magic pill to fix obesity...especially when food is inexpensive and plentiful. But we do need better medicines for diabetes.
Our bodies should produce 4 different types of insulin. (Pancreas and liver) as well as thyroid. However we only have thyroid medication and one type of insulin to treat diabetes with. Metphormin only increases sensitivity to insulin. It's not a perfect solution either.

most of the overweight problem is the types of foods..it is much cheaper (not much now) to eat at fast food joints as opposed to grabbing a salad. the reason fast food tastes so good...salt and fat and sugar...

there is no perfect solution to diabetes the best thing I heard was ....genetics loads the gun..lifestyle pulls the triggers

and I am one of those...always hungry...it will drive you crazy...you know you just ate..you know you should be full but damn you could eat another meal..it is like...I am either eating or thinking about my next meal

then there are times like now...I haven't eaten and I must ..breakfast is not my jam

You aren't far from wrong.
Studies have indicated that artificial sweetners (aspertaim, saccharine, and etc) as well as corn syrup (HFCS) as well as other food additives are likely causes for metabolism slowing, obesity and over consumption.

Salt and fats alone are not the culprits we once believed them to be. Sure they make food taste good....but excess fats simply work their way through the system and often go right back out without metabolizing.

However, modified food starch or added soy protein....not so much. They do get metabolized.

Sugar is the real killer.

All them diet pills are basically class b cocaine like material. Lol, who would have see it coming ? Just anyone with a brain.

Nope.
Sugar is a classification of a carbohydrate.
Carbs aren't bad. Just like proteins aren't bad. You need them. Too much of anything is bad. Modified food starch is no different from sucrose (white sugar in the 5lb bags) in digestion.

People have used honey, cane sugar, tree sap (maple, birch, and walnut syrup) or grape sugars for centuries. Not a big deal.

However, artificial sweeteners have "published" all kinds of pseudo scientific reports extolling the dangers of sugar.

Junk science always has an ulterior motive.

Ya know what makes killer diet pills? Meth! :auiqs.jpg:
Prove me wrong! :aargh:
Pharmaceutical Meth. Reds!

I recently went in for an ear problem. The doctor asked if I was taking any medications. I said no, and he complimented me, but I know he was gritting his teeth when he said it. Paraphrasing Jesus, "The fields are white with the harvest, of medication-induced side effects."
