If you have clear skies where you are, just find an open place and watch for awhile. I saw a really big one that came in low and burned for a good 3 seconds!

I live in the urbs of a major city.

Not dark enough here.

Week after next I will be hiking Whitney (again) with a good friend from high school daze.

Hopefully we will be able to appreciate the natural wonders of the night skies on that hike to the top -- 15,000 ft elevation.

The parking lot trailhead stands at 8000 ft. So the total elevation gain will be 7000 ft.

Backpack trips like these are when I normally get to see the night sky totally dark again.

This reminds me though -- stardial and red lens for flashlight -- I need to add this to my list.

Just came back in the house from watching on the west coast.

Great year for it, more activity than normal, and no moon here in the early morning hours.

I went out last night around 12AM and saw about 5 of them. It's amazing how fast they travel. Pretty neat stuff!

Thanks, that is a fantastic camera, had to be mounted to a wide field scope, I could see M35 very plainly
