Pentagon deal sparks protest outside of OpenAI HQ in San Francisco

We can hopefully figure something out with this. There needs to be an international discussion. This is dangerous.

Is this why we're doomed? We'll just justify stupid decisions based on mutual escalation until we destroy ourselves?

Another option should at least be looked for.

Will Sarah Connor be one of our spokespersons?

Any.

Is this something you think should exist or not?
Sorry. I don’t get what it is you seem to think you’re asking.

Let me see how close I am:

Are you seriously asking people if they approve of AI autonomous behavior which could include making a “decision” to take a human life?

Yes.

Open border is the leading reason for this.

Then why did the president condemn Anthropic for refusing to comply with DoD wishes to allow mass surveillance and AI that can kill without human oversight?

Surveilling humans only requires an advanced search engine ... humans leave their footprints in the digital world like dogs peeing on bushes.

As for an AI that can kill without human oversight ... that has been the stuff of SciFi movies since films came without sound and It's been firmly established in canon lore that anyone who does that is a moron. We're stupid as a culture, but ultimately we're not THAT stupid.

What a dumb question.

In what universe would anybody say that they approve of AI unilaterally “deciding” to kill any human being (and then doing it)?
If you think that's a bad idea, then you're in line with Anthropic's stance. The government wants to have the contract done in a way that would allow that, as well as mass surveillance.

Now they're working with OpenAI. That's why people are protesting and AI researchers are literally LEAVING OpenAI.

It's happening dude. Better tune in.

Let me guess ... you saw it on the news?

The news who don't make a profit and stay in business unless they scare us enough that we keep watching?

That news?

It’s “happening,” you claim.

Hm. Where? Link?
The government dropped Anthropic and is now trying to punish them because they refused to cross those lines. That is why all of this is happening. Anthropic had two standards the government was not willing to meet.

1.) No mass surveillance.

2.) No AI controlled weaponry that can kill without human oversight.

They stuck to their guns and were dropped. Now OpenAI will fill the gap.

It's the entire reason why the government dropped Anthropic and went with OpenAI instead.

Still waiting for that link, pumpkin ...

There are many. This is one. If you're actually interested then go study it yourself. I've been posting about this for days.

"The dispute between the Pentagon and Anthropic over two usage restrictions in Anthropic's military contract—prohibitions on autonomous weapons and mass surveillancehad been building since January, when Hegseth's AI strategy memorandum directed that all Department of Defense AI contracts adopt standard "any lawful use" language. Hegseth met with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei earlier in the week and threatened to invoke the Defense Production Act to compel the company's cooperation. But on Friday the Trump administration had apparently dropped the DPA threat in favor of something more dramatic: a formal supply chain risk designation and a government-wide ban."

So. You’ve got nothing.

Pretty much expected.
