Pence: “Congress has no right to my testimony”

He thinks he has a chance at the GOP nomination. If he sits in front of the committee, he thinks he has no chance. That is the long and short of it.
That may well be the entire story right there.

It is a rather silly one for Pence though, I have more chance at the nomination than he does.

Congress has the right to conduct investigations and can call witnesses. The clearest example is the Watergate investigation. Imagine if people working for Nixon (Dean) could have used the argument of separation of power as a reason to refuse testifying and the (smoking gun) that tapes existed.

I don't know if Pence is still seeking a political career or what. I would guess that Trump would never back him. Still he is standing up for Trump and I guess that is the middle ground he seeks. He did the right thing in the last elections but he is now showing loyalty to Trump or seeking a political career and does not want to alienate the repub base that he needs. I doubt trump will never support him.

hmm would Trump serves as Pence's VP?

talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place
