I'm somewhat glad he was arrested, not because I think he should be behind bars, but because this will set precedence for when they CAN'T ACTUALLY CONVICT HIM OF ANYTHING. Yes, this is freedom of speech. Why don't arrest the KKK for holding "peaceful rallies" that highlight bigotry. We don't demand stories about prostitution or torture be burned. We don't tear down websites and magazines that outline the best way to grow, obtain, or sell marijuana.

Yet when this pops up, it seems to crosses some imaginary line of "informational right and wrong" not defined by any law that makes people SO rabid, an angry mob can actually influence our law enforcement enough to arrest someone under a completely coaxed law from half a country away because the laws local to his own state did not find it illegal.

This man wrote words. That is not a crime.

He deserves all the boycotting and hate mail the country has to offer, but not pitchforks and torches. Let US not break the law just because his actions are appalling.

The man extradited to Florida for writing, publishing and selling a controversial book considered a "how-to" for pedophiles pleaded no contest to criminal charges in exchange for two years' probation, authorities said Thursday.

While the plea does not require Greaves to register as a sex offender, he is required to continue mental health counseling, said Chip Thullbery, spokesman for the prosecutor's office.

"We believe this agreement accomplishes our objectives: to see he does not do it again and give a warning to others who may want to create such materials," Thullbery said. "If he publishes this book again or sells it further, he would be subject to re-arrest." If that occurs, Greaves could be sentenced to the maximum for the charge: five years in prison.

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Online retail giant Amazon was under fire on Wednesday for selling a self-published digital book called "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure."

The reviews page for the book, by a Phillip R. Greaves and available for Amazon's Kindle electronic reader, was deluged with criticism of the Seattle, Washington-based Amazon for offering it for sale.

"This is a joke, right? What reputable business would even consider allowing this book to be sold from their website?" said a visitor identified as "Emerald Storm." "This is absolutely despicable."

"Shame on Amazon for allowing such garbage to be sold on its site," said another with the handle "thirty something."

The book, whose full title is "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure: A Child-Lover's Code of Conduct," had received more than 305 "reviews" with 297 giving it a one-star rating, the lowest possible.

Most of the "reviews" were appeals to Amazon to remove the book.

"Amazon, you might want to consider taking this horrid book off your website if you want to have any business this holiday season," wrote "ecirtap."

"Shame on you, Amazon, for allowing a book like this to be uploaded for purchase! This book gives advice to people about something that is ILLEGAL in every state in this nation. It needs to be removed from the site immediately," wrote another customer.

Now.......never mind that it takes a sick asshole to write shit like this, but it is also VERY negligent for Amazon to even consider putting this on it's site.

Know what the author wanted to do? He was hoping to get pedophilia to be viewed "in a friendlier light".
