I don't know how Pat Buchanan gets away with some of what he says, but I think he gets a pass because of his personality. He is pretty good on race and actually kind of "gets" Jews. That's a rare combination. Maybe the Jews think that if they knock off Pat Buchanan, someone less gentlemanly will take his place.

Blacks (not just black males) WERE the victims of heavy racism in AMerica for a long time. Time has moved on. Nowadays, the CLAIM that black males (or blacks in general) are the victims of heavy racism is pretty much baseless.

I will (speaking only for myself since many conservatives do not agree with me) concede that the "present effects of past discrimination" still have some impact on some blacks in America.

But becaue of things like "reverse discrimination" (a much-hated term which makes it no less accurate), it is also true that many whites are, today, feeling the effect of racial discrimination. The Ricci case was a pretty good example of that, in fact.

Sorry, Charlie, but your very limited and heavily distorted view of racism in America is just that: your view. You remain wrong and your views are not premised on the actual state of facts as they exist.

The Ricci case was *NOT* reverse discrimination, it was a Civil Rights issue. A published study indicates that most court claims of reverse discrimination have been found to be baseless and the preponderance of evidence indicates that whites and whites males are collectively not be hurt by reverse discrimination via affirmative action.

OK. When do we get around to talking about normal everday stuff like cars, women, cold beer, shooting pool, playing cards, etc., etc., etc. Do you ever take a break with all of this crap and talk about anything normal? All of your posts seem to be the "hot" topics that just get people all stirred up. While that may be a noble endeavor, even George Washington used to take a little time out from the war to take a breather. What are you like when you aren't pissing people off?

Bullcrap. Racism in America used to be legislated. It was lawful. Not only is that not the case today, the converse is true. In at least cases that involve the government, racism is actually illegal (except when it is legislated in reverse).

The Ricci case was absolutely reverse discrimination. Get a promotion by passing a test. Blacks, whites, Hispanics take the test. Whites only get the requiste grades in this round. But guess what? They do NOT get the promotion. And the reason? The test has to be tossed out (some dopes claimed) because of "disparate results." The soon-to-be next Associate Justice of the SCOTUS even ruled that way.

You can deny it all you want, Charlie, but when a white majority denies a black minority job opportunites on the basis of race, that IS racism. When the law that seeks to rectify that kind of thing ends up denying white applicants a job or a promotion they have otherwise earned fairly and squarely SIMPLY on the basis of race, that too is racism.

You can spin, bend, fold, punch, mutilate and twist the words and concepts all day long to your heart's content. But to deny ANYbody the job on the basis, under the law, of race is racism.
