In the aftermath of the government shutdown being over it has become painfully obvious that the huge majority of democrats wanted the shutdown to continue, while they simultaneously claimed it was republicans who shut down the government. How can it possibly be republicans who shut down the government when it is democrats complaining about 8 senators who voted to reopen the government instead of keeping it shut down?

We have had many democrats plus Jon Stewart, Sunny Hostin, and others who blasted the 8 senators for making people's lives easier instead of helping the democrat party by continuing the shutdown. John Fetterman is from a purple state and his constituents are a mix of democrats, republicans, and others. Yet Sunny Hostin blasted him for thinking of his constituents instead of thinking of the democrat party. Same with several other of the 8 senators who represent more than just democrats. They are getting blasted for thinking more about their constituents than for thinking about the democrat party. Party over country.

And, when you consider the fact that only about 9% of Americans actually get ACA subsidies, 91% of Americans were being held hostage by democrats in order to benefit the democrat party's future. Again, party over country. They don't give a crap about Americans. They only give a crap about their own future.

Had any of those 8 been facing an election next year, none would have voted the way they did.

That being said, the lesson for the democrats is probably to better pick your battles.
Your first sentence isn't entirely true. Some would have.

You guys would have never been in this situation with Trump being president if you hadn't riled up Trump's base and independents with your constant lawfare over many years. But, you're right, they picked a battle they really couldn't win. If democrats had any sense, they would quit with the Trump attacks and trying to fight him at every step and concentrate on bread and butter issues and jettison the progressives and their woke ideas.

Sure. LOL

Healthcare is a bread and butter issue.

The big losers will be rural Americans who have no health infrastructure. But the bumpkins are fine with Trump butt-******* them. Thats why 160 years after Fort Sumpter, the South is still the bastion of ignorance it always has been.

Not sure I understand how rural Americans will be the big losers. If they had no healthcare infrastructure before, were the democrats trying to change that? I thought the dems were trying for subsidies to illegals that the GOP wasn't going to do and that's why we had the shutdown. And let's not pretend that the democrats give a flyin' **** about rural Americans, hmm?

NYC has clinics. The counties around NYC can afford to fund clinics. Towns with 2000 people can't. Simple mathematics.

They're not. The GOP is.

You've drank the kool-aid it seems.

The subsidies help All Americans. Now if all Americans lived in large cities with a health care infrastructure, city clinics, county clinics, etc... losing the subsidy won't sting so badly. There are clinics you can visit.

Still...you're trading private insurance for public health. So instead of seeing a Dr. for whom you have a relationship, built trust, knows your history and how you don't like a certain medication etc... you're seeing--lets face it--a very young doctor in a very time-compressed setting with likely limited resources.

You won't run into that in rural America because health systems (such as the one I work for) don't open up ambulatory care clinics (aka the doc-in-a-box) in small towns. There is no profit motive; to put it bluntly. The Counties are likely only staffing a clinic (if there is one) a few hours a week and access to healthcare is limited as a result.

Call me when politicians come up with a healthcare plan that they will accept for their own personal plan. All politicians should have to live under any plan they try to put on the American people. No exemptions, no modifications, no special circumstances. If Democrats think Obamacare is so good, let them drop all other coverage and accept Obamacare for their personal-family plan.

Not a bad idea.

You do understand that the ACA isn't a healthcare plan, it makes the healthcare plan you and your doctors construct more affordable.

Of course you don't understand that.....you're a ******* moron. Good idea about the politicians though. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.

you are almost as bigoted as your boyfriend clayton jones....

You guys are idiots. I think I need to change my signature to that so I dont have to keep typing it.

Democrats swept the election and Trump's favorability hangs lower than his neck fat.

Republicans are on the hook to fix healthcare by the midterms. If they dont (which they wont) they'll lose even more seats.

The Democrats have little bargaining position but they got a lot of points on the table that the GOP cant run away from.

so the pendulum is swinging the other way....as soon as democrats **** up again, and they will,it will go the other way until the republicans **** up again...

Dems tried to negotiate this.

What they got was a promise to bring the ACA subsidy premium extension to a vote in early December.

That’s nothing much since
A. You can’t really trust the GOP to keep their word
B. They’ll very likely vote it down and walk away giggling

This OP actually points out the fact that they don't even give a damn about their own voters. Whatever furthers their party is all they want. The hell with everything but that objective.

Democrats won the elections in blue states that they were going to win anyway.
