The Panamanian ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Eloy Alfaro, during his speech at the twenty-eighth plenary session of the General Assembly of the world organization, condemned the fact that the hostile policy has harmed Cuba for more than six decades.

Alfaro recalled in his speech that at the UN, year after year, for more than three decades, this project has received almost unanimous support from the international community.

But “today, once again, Panama reaffirms its firm conviction in the importance of lifting these restrictive measures,” in a clear allusion to the embargo that the United States maintains against Cuba,

Alfaro insisted that the US blockade is an unsustainable barrier to development and economic opportunities on the island.

I knew I liked this country for a reason!

Well done Panama.

Fine, have Cuba agree to return or pay for the assets they took from American Citizens and corporations after the revolution.

Nice and simple.

Has Vietnam had to pay restitution?

Have we ever made such a demand of any other country?

Has any other country nationalized out of hand so much American investment?

All that stuff is government owned, it's not like we would be taking it from other owners.

They want normal relations? That's the price.

We “invested” 60,000 lives

And we then signed a treaty that the Norks violated the second we left the ground.

Lesson learned.

By your logic, should we still be occupying Japan and Germany?

Wasn’t the Norks

But we have a healthy economic relationship with Vietnam and thousands of Americans visit every year.

Why not Cuba?

what did the NORKS do in Vietnam?

Actually that is your logic as it is the same logic for keeping the 62 year old sanctions in place on Cuba.

Broke the Treaty of Paris the second we left the ground?

Cuba wasn't a target of war by us, it was a revolution that stole via nationalization american assets.

Give them back, and it's all good.

So, because over 60 years ago, US corporations lost their sweetheart deal with Batista to exploit Cuban labor and make millions in profit for themselves and Cuban elites

No reason to maintain an economic embargo

Why can't Cuba just give us back our stuff?

Plenty of reasons.

Maybe they could also hold free elections.
