I glanced after see this thread started, but only saw campaign finance/influence controversy issues and I think we are all used to that, by people on both sides, by now. But she was Florida AG for several years, a practicing attorney and prosecutor. She got elected after appearing with Joe Scarborough on PMSNBC, later a contributor at FOXNEWS (nothing new there), so I suspect she will sail through.

If I were Trump, I might have let Gaetz slow roast in the news until the week after Christmas, taking heat, letting him be the focus while trump kept lining up other things, and people, even occasionally mentioning he was continuing to look into the allegations of the closely held report, not released. Then accept Gaezt' heartfest withdrawal for the good of the administration in the dead week after Christmas with everybody gone home, including most of the reporters, even though President elect had made the decision, this week.

Next choice for AG is Pam Bondi, former Florida AG. One hell of a good choice.

DOJ is important, needs expertise and experience if going to get enough out it. It got Gaetz out of the House before the House Judiciary report release date, kept the press entertained with leaked tidbits of the report, that would have never been able to keep secret, in that damned town. Everybody, including Trump campaign, was aware of Matt's problem (failings), as report not released but does anybody believe there wasn't a direct line to what they knew, straight to the Republican leadership and Trump campaign? Hell no. Of course they knew. Bondi was probably the real choice from the beginning, but this ploy allowed Gaetz to leave as if preparing for the big DOJ job. And, she actually has been a lawyer, not just somebody that had a piece of paper. She was a prosecutor. She was AG for something like 7+8 years of 3 largest state in the country, and Trump's own lawyer, also a big plus to the Donster. Having your lawyer be the actual AG, is a lot better than trying to use the White House lawyer as your personal attorney, like last time. Being a lobbyist and relatively smart, she also knows quite a bit of how Washington works. It is unlikely you or I would agree with her politics, but that is immaterial, as she has the all the checkmarks needed to handle the position, whether people of the other party like it or not, and that is what it take to sail through the Senate.

Gaetz is probably going to be a Senator. DeSantis is probably going to put Gaetz in Marco Rubio's seat.

And none of this had to be. If the dimocraps had not messed with OMB so bad, we would be nearing the end of his Presidency with very little accomplished and Biden wouldn't have been able to spend the last 4 years screwing everything up.
