Here are his indisputable statistics:

There were 310 million guns in the U.S. in 2009 (a Congressional Research Service figure I have no reason to dispute), a figure that likely grew to perhaps 350 million by 2013.

These guns result in ~33,000 deaths in 2013, of which 64% were suicides, leaving ~500 accidental deaths and 11,200 due to homicides (these are official CDC figures reported in Table 10)

There were 269 million registered vehicles in the U.S. in 2013.

These result in ~33,000 deaths a year, roughly half of which are drivers (these are official NHTSA statistics).

WOW! Now that is a truly STUPID comparison, total number owned rather than total usage. Do you really think people use their guns as much as they use their cars? Only people stupid enough to support the NRA would be stupid enough to post that crap in a public forum!

Yep.

This is the same non-logic that says flying is safer than driving.

Since we have no way of knowing how many car trips people make, it cannot be measured or compared to flying.

Oh and - the weird photo at the link makes a mockery of the content.

We don't allow 16 year olds to have guns unsupervised….we hand the keys to our cars to 16 year olds all the time……and cars are the leading cause of death among teenagers.

Perhaps you should pay more attention to cars and less to responsible gun owners.

Yeah, that is why there is massive regulation and enforcement of those regulations when it comes to cars. Are you arguing it should be the same for guns?

We already have massive regulations on guns…but we don't allow 16 year olds to use them unsupervised….why do you want teenagers to die in cars?

According to your side, we'll be safer with less regulation and enforcement. Maybe we should do away with speed limits and driving lanes, and test out your theory.

What do you mean by that…..we want gun criminals locked up, we don't want felons to own or carry guns, guns are required to be safe, and instruction on their use is available……..you have no point.

Actually, we will be safer if we have gun safety lessons in public schools taught alongside fire safety……that would help reduce accidents.

False comparison fallacies are dangerous to thread topics, causing them to fail.

The fatal flaw in this pseudoargument remains: car deaths are accidental; gun deaths are by design.

These guys droll over their comic book fetishes about guns, then they want to cry the blues when said guns are used for what they're designed for. Duh.

My 18 year old granddaughter had her first accident yesterday. Thankfully it was minor. Shaken up as it is her first car and she guards it with her life.

More stupidity
People of ANY age have to pass tests, both written and driving, BEFORE they can drive a car unsupervised. No such testing with guns.

the right to own a weapon and carry it is a Right....you can't put tests on a right.

for example...the democrats put a literacy test on the right to vote as a way to keep blacks from voting......any form of test for gun ownership would be the same thing. we know this is true because they use tests in Europe to keep guns out of the hands of regular citizens and allow them only for the wealthy and politically connected. guns are not complicated and do not require Navy Seal skills to deploy them successfully. You really need to research the topic and see how often normal people, with little to no training use guns effectively and accurately against violent criminal attack in intense situations. If you studied gun fights you wouldn't post what you just posted.

gun murder is not an accident.....accidental gun deaths in 2013, according to the CDC table 10......505. that's it. gun murder in 2013 from the FBI table 8.....8,454.

Accidental car deaths...over 34,000.

No shit Sherlock. That's what I just posted.

People are killed in cars...by accident
People are killed by guns....on purpose

Stop the comparison
