Over 1,600 voters have been removed from the rolls since an Aug. 7 executive order by Gov. Glenn Youngkin, plaintiffs in a lawsuit against the governor said Wednesday on a press call.

Seventy-five voter registrations were denied in the same time period, said Ryan Snow, counsel with Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Virginia for removing voters from rolls within 90 days of this year’s elections. Virginia’s League of Women Voters and the Virginia Coalition for Immigrants Rights had previously filed a similar suit. Earlier this week a federal judge ordered the Youngkin administration to release the names of affected voters as part of discovery in the League of Women Voters case and officials had to comply by Wednesday.

Snow confirmed to The Mercury that the numbers came from a list provided to the plaintiffs. The Mercury also has a pending Freedom of Information Act request seeking numbers of people flagged for removal and how many may have been reinstated or not removed.

The case will have a hearing in Alexandria Thursday morning where plaintiffs hope for an injunction of Youngkin’s order.

Looks like the dems are making a full court press to kill election integrity in Virginia.

I mean what are they trying to enjoin?......Stopping the process so non-citizens can vote?

It makes no sense. :eusa_wall:

Of course it makes sense. The Dems’ purpose in incentivizing millions of lowlife illegals into this country, despite how they make life much worse for the working class, is for illegal votes now and ultimately “amnesty” votes in the next cycle.

They’re not going to let a governor intent on election integrity interfere with that.

Who said they were non-citizens? Show us the legal judgement against them. Removing anyone without due process is fascistic.

The process is they are notified when found and have 14 days to prove themselves a US citizen.

Why would anyone harp about that?

As best as I can tell the dems are using the same gambit that basically says that blacks are too stupid to do anything unless dem plantation approved.

Many of these are gotten from jury questionnaires where the potential juror checked “non-citizen” on the form.

Kicking people off the rolls 12 weeks before an election doesn’t allow enough time to notify voters and allow them to contest the decision

If Younkin really cared he would have done it years before a presidential election

contest what?

You’re either able to vote or you’re not

The Dems were blocking his efforts, and it’s been going on for years.

Contest the reason you were kicked off
Do you think people are kicked off for arbitrary reasons?

That’s like trying to “contest” a drunk driving charge even though you blew a .12 when the legal limit is .08

Yes

They can claim you are not a citizen, resident or are dead.
You need sufficient time to prove otherwise.

The law says 90 days

What about the people who ADMITTED they are non-citizens on jury questionnaires? Surely they at least should be removed.

Who is going around branding citizens as non-citizens?

Citizenship is something you can prove at any time if you have it.

The last state that did this and were sued, around 3500 of the so called illegals removed from voter rolls were Naturalized, and citizens.....and they had to be reinstated on the voter rolls.

This is why the 90 days cut off is the law of the land.... So there is enough time for citizens wrongly removed, to be notified and can get themselves back on the voter rolls before the election.

I wouldn't worry about it...they have the 1600 people's names, and will be able to check and know if any of them voted illegally on Nov 5th etc, which is unlikely, but if someone did so illegally, they could charge them with the felony and/deport them.

Where is your birth certificate?
If you can’t find it, it may take 90 days to get a new one issued

Are you a woman with a different name than you were born with?
You need to dig up your marriage license

90 days is reasonable.

I have a drivers license, and any government officer or voting house could look it up.

Pennsylvania made major changes to their election process right before the 2020 election. I don’t recall Democrats having a problem with it.

And that’s what this is about.. an election, not some empathy for the individual

A free and fair election does not include illegally removing CITIZENS legal right to vote for their representation.

Removing illegal voters should never be at the expense of wrongly taking a citizen's right to vote away. It can be done without doing that...

That shouldn't be so hard to understand?
