With all those record corporate profits, it's understandable that businesses are struggling and have to cut back workers' hours.

this guy...... argues like a kindergartener. Ok what companies are making record profits and laying off workers?

And do you even try to figure out details or do you just post left wing talking points

ok, now are they laying off people, lets look at details.

Again knb also believes that corporations hire the cheapest labor to make the most profit......so microsoft apparently is hiring people with 3rd grade educations

It is a simple fact that wealth is being concentrated at the top, and this is not a good thing. Thomas Jefferson himself warned this was a grave danger to any nation.

There is natural and there is unnatural concentration of wealth. Natural concentration comes from inventing a better mousetrap. Unnatural concentration comes from capturing legislative and regulatory power and bending it to your advantage to the exclusion and harm of others with better business models. A great unleveling of the playing field has occurred.

This MUST be corrected.

Of course our problems have to be attributed to more than just one person, but obama definitely accelerated our demise, more than any other politician. Him and Nancy Pelosi .

No, corporations are being more subtle than that. For example, hiring on people as temps so they don't have to provide them the full benefits packages that converted employees receive, and then stretching out the conversion period over years instead of months. They also have one or two week long shutdowns, forcing employees to use their paid time off when the company decides they should use it instead of when the employees would like to take time off with their families. And then there are wage freezes, delays in promotions, leaving positions open when someone leaves the company, forcing the remaining employees to take up more and more responsibilities, and so forth.

Both democrats and republicans are costing us our livelyhoods and our grandkids future. There is no one party to blame, its the intire bunch. Obamacare is costing people their jobs, or a cut in pay, and premiums just keep going up and business's can't afford it and have to cut back either on peoples pay checks, or cut back on employment. And its going to get worse.
Unless we the people do something and vote all these incumbants out in the next election, we are all going to pay a heavy price. Forget what party you belong too, because neither of them in d.c are any good........vote them all out, and lets get our livelyhoods back and decent people in office that will help us.

An example of the way corporations take advantage of regulatory capture is by getting legislators and regulators to increase the number of regulations on their industry.

This sounds counter-intuitive. Why would an ironing board manufacturer, for example, want the government to make it more difficult to be an ironing board manufacturer?

Because it makes it extremely difficult for a start-up ironing board manufacturer with a leaner and better business model to break into the industry.


The Left has facilitated this unnatural concentration of wealth by concentrating power at the federal level. An ironing board manufacturer doesn't have to capture 50 state regulatory bodies and legislatures any more. He only has to capture the federal legislature and get them to put a federal pre-emption in the laws regarding ironing board manufacturing.

And then while he is getting the feds to make it harder to be a manufacturer of ironing boards on the one hand, he also puts the right amount of cash in the right Congressional campaign coffers to ensure ironing board manufacturers get a tax break. After all, ironing boards are good for America and a real pain in the ass to make what with all these goddammed regulations!!!!
