Actually we started off as a nation of immigrants from primarily Europe who supported themselves and families and contributed to society. Since welfare we have been getting immigrants from 3rd world countries who don't support themselves and families and live off welfare for generations mooching off the US not contributing to it. The world is changing where technology will require far fewer workers to do the same task.
