Trump Declines to Declare a State-of-Emergency to Fight the Opioid Epidemic
President Donald Trump has decided not to officially declare a state of emergency for the opioid crisis, his health and human services secretary said Tuesday, a week after a White House task force recommended the president take “urgent” action to stem overdose deaths.

Trump said, “is to prevent people from abusing drugs in the first place.” He continued, “If they don’t start, they won't have a problem. If they do start, it’s awfully tough to get off. So if we can keep them from going on and maybe by talking to youth and telling them, ‘No good, really bad for you in every way.’ But if they don’t start, it will never be a problem.”

Addicts will be addicts, and I should know, I'm an alcoholic/addict.

No amount of Federal regulation or programs will keep people like me from using when I'm not actively working my recovery.

It's not an issue Trump should spend time on
