Working as an online influencer has become a subject to specialize in, according to an Irish university's decision to include such studies in its curricula. A job that did not exist until recently, it has become a popular career among Generation Z young people looking to carve out a future by posting content on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, said South East University of Technology (SETU) in Carlow, 80 km from Dublin.

Course director Irene McCormick admitted that the idea came about after 350 applicants signed up for a “Digital Hustle” activity delivered by TikTokers and initially planned for 30 students. “It got incredible traction, we could see the appetite for more, so we expanded it to the undergraduate level,” said McCormick, a former television producer and director, now in charge of the four-year degree in ”Content Creation and Social Media.”

At first I was like WTF, then I figured, why the hell not. They have a degree for most everything else.

Yet another worthless "degree" to put kids in debt.

An online influencer is just someone who gets paid to sit on their ass and shitpost disinformation all day.

They could probably save some money by getting a couple USMB liberals to teach the class.

Damn, who knew you were an online influencer.

Did you get a degree or does it just come natural for you.

A degree that helps you to make a living... sounds like the point of degrees.

I don't consider myself an "influencer" because I know you really can't change someone online idiot's opinion one way or another.

I'm more of a shitposter.

I like that! I might have to steal that if you do not mind!

It is no more or less a carrier than acting, singing, writing, art or any other entertainment business and degrees exist for all of those.

The fact is that these people are HIGHLY skilled at what they do. If they were not then everyone would do it because they make millions being influencers.

The name is pretty dumb to be honest, these guys are really entertainers and it should be recognized that they are. Like most of the other artistic degrees it likely is not all that useful. Many people in those fields have to be naturally talented rather than taught.

A degree in on-line influencer?? That’s nuts. Maybe a course at best and even then I don’t how you fill out time.

Video editing, business (they all have teams), law will be a massive part considering they work on platforms that reach internationally, there would be a ton of communication, public speaking and other related skillsets and that is just off the top of my head.

Clif High characterises this point on the Kali Yuga as one where we have no Authority to turn to , let alone rely on .

Someone in the CIA has got very lucky , or , they knew exactly how the Universal Cycle favoured Project Chaos .

AI and IQ 2.0 being the two greatest concerns !!

Thank you. Makes sense.

But what's the demand level?

That's the main issues like X studies, most of them are only good for academic jobs, and their aren't enough of those to fill to meet the supply usually.

The demand is MASSIVE. The problem with that community is not the demand, it is the reach. Just like acting is in huge demand, there are a shit ton of actors, the digital nature of the business means that the entire field is dominated by the very top. The rest have to deal with table scraps.

That is the problem with carriers like this, to few take all the money available and there is no way around that as it is in the nature of the product itself. Just like so many kids dreaming of being professional athletes, it is not a real goal.

I doubt it. People only have a given time and attention span, and once the supply becomes a glut, the demand will filter out the ones who don't cut it, who will then become Starbucks baristas demanding a living wage for pouring coffee.
