God-dammit, they were in Gazan territorial waters where Israel has no jurisdiction and it is illegal for them to even be in the area. The lengths people go to justify anything Israel does is amazing.Well it looked like they were shooting at the water, not them. They could have sunk the boat in an instant. And you cant tell from the video if the patrol had already told them to turn around.
You don't have to live there, to know shooting at people fishing and farming is wrong. You don't have to live there to know it's wrong to detain people indefinitely without charges. You don't have to live there to know that collectively punishing an entire population of people who have committed no crime because you didn't like who they voted for in a fair and democratic election is wrong.I understand the Israelis are harsh and I totaly understand why a lot of people feel the way you do.But anyway we cant really understand unless we have lived there, our opinions are just that to some extent.
And you don't have to live there to know maintaining an illegal and immoral occupation for almost 50 years goes way beyond harsh.
No they don't! Where is it legal for a country to interfere in another country's trade militarily? If you were in Somalia, they'd call it piracy.
But it's not a war, it's an occupation. An occupation that was going on for 37 years before the first rocket attack.
And what's the big ******* deal about these rocket attacks anyway? You talk as though they're ICBM's with MIRV warheads. They're homemade munitions that have only killed 28 people in 11 years. Most of them fall harmlessly in the desert. But all of them, are in response to the occupation.
Israel didn't give up Gaza. They still maintain "effective control" of over 80% of the area. That satisfies the definition of an occupation. When Israel gave up Gaza, the palestinians didnt even give peace a chance. You remember that right? It was Rockets Immediately, so it could have been a different
chain of events if that had gone down differently
Iran is not trying to destroy Israel and hasn't attacked another country in over 200 years. If its all about the occupation, then why is Iran so bent on destroying Israel? They are Shia and the Palestinians are Sunni Muslims. So, I think the occupation is just an excuse for some over there.
Naval blockade of gaza is legal under San Remo and Palmer report.
>>The Panel considers the conflict should be treated as an international one for the purposes of the law of blockade. This takes foremost into account Israels right to self-defence against armed attacks from outside its territory. In this context, the debate on Gazas status, in particular its relationship to Israel, should not obscure the realities. The law does not operate in a political vacuum, and it is implausible to deny that the nature of the armed violence between Israel and Hamas goes beyond purely domestic matters.<<
