Guess he was tolerated because he provided some apparent opposition .
He certainly was a dreamer and argued that the individual could live more freely and be better off without state intervention ..

Somewhat binary in his thinking.
Little room for shades of grey within the Black/White scenario.
Bit like our own IQ-2.0 .
