I used to sit in the back of my parents car eating home made popped popcorn and drinking RC cola out of the bottle.. Went to Sears Roebuck and looked at the matchbox cars that sold for 19 cents. Walk or ride a bike, without parents escorts, miles away to the 5 and dime store where not only the candy cigarettes but bubble gum cigars were sold. Go out into the blackberry(not electronic) patch, pick some blackberries, eat a few, get home for some homemade blackberry pie. Watch 3 channels of black and white TV, with Red Skelton and his humor that today, not too many liberals would understand. Yep, I am older than dirt.

All but the PF Flyers and had to look them up.

There is still one or two active drive-ins around here, but 'back in the day' is where we spent most of our Friday/Saturday nights. The best place to go only charged by the carload instead of per person and we'd cram as many as possible in one car

There is also a home-delivery dairy in the area, but I don't know if it's still in glass bottles or not and they do leave it in the metal cooler box on the porch.

I never seen or watched Howdy Doody, but heard plenty about it.

I don't really remember the news reels, but I do remember the cartoons during intermission &/or between double features.




So I guess that makes me old enough to qualify as compost
