No he can't be re-tried under the law.....but IF this really is the murder weapon and IF there is evidence of connection to OJ, then it will prove he was responsible for their deaths & thereby a murderer. He just won't be legally convicted of the crime.

I just wonder why the damn cop kept this possible evidence secret or to himself, for so many years and not brought it forward sooner.

The evidence found is unfortunately and in the same vein fortunately, inconsequential.
Even with overwhelming evidence in hand, he cannot be tried again for the same offense due to double jeopardy provisions in the US Constitution.
Case closed.

He could still be tried again for another charge, like obstructing justice, for burying the knife, or even a federal charge of denying the civil rights of the people he killed. It has been done before.

At most there should be a suppression of evidence charge if the knife has any DNA that links it to the murders. Although the story does sound a bit sketchy. In L.A. people tend to gravitate to anything that can make them money off someone else's rep.
