This newly signed law (HB327) will raise the standard of proof to forfeit property in civil court from “preponderance of the evidence” to the tougher standard of “clear and convincing evidence” and closed the "equitable sharing" loophole. This is a clear win for liberty loving people of Ohio. Hopefully more states will follow suit since only 11 have similar legislation. I've been pressing the Commonwealth to do the same with little success.

Civil forfeiture is still an unconstitutional shortcut, even using a "clear and convincing" standard.
