And I am still saying it is absolutely bullshit. I was afeared for my life is the excuse they always use. Oh, there is a chance that he might have a weapon hidden in his sock. Bullshit.
I fought a war. I fired on the enemy. They fired on me. I did not shoot at one person who was unarmed. I thought he might have a weapon just is not good enough. I would waste my time and repeat again how wet got here, where he might have a weapon and I was afeared for my life was good enough. But you are going to stand there steadfastly determined to excuse every insane argument.

So you put on the blue uniform and badge, and you confront the criminals, and you hold back when their hands disappear from your view. You do that. And us ? We'll send flowers (for YOU)
And half of the shootings are of unarmed people, and or shot in the back.
Explain this to me. Why is the cop a hero for shooting an unarmed individual, but the guy who shot two cops in Florida a coward? The cops were armed and wearing body armor. The jackass walked up on two armed cops at a diner, and opened fire killing them. The Sheriff said this guy was a coward. But you and the rest cheer cops as heroes for shooting unarmed people. Why?
No, I am not overjoyed that two cops were killed. I am saddened. But I am also smart enough o recognize propaganda when I hear it. Propaganda is more bullshit.
I was in the army. I was shot at, and returned fire. I held people at gunpoint. Trained soldiers. But I never shot an unarmed individual. How was I as a 22 year old able to survive? In addition we had language difficulties since they did not speak English and I didn’t speak Arabic, or Spanish. How is it that nobody in my unit managed to shoot an unarmed individual? I mean in a war zone where the enemy is not only equipped but trained to kill we survived and didn’t shoot one unarmed individual.
According to you, we should all have died. According to you, the rules of engagement should have been a death sentence. How the hell did we survive?
When the laws required the cops to actually see a gun before they could shoot, how the hell did any of them survive? Many departments had it as policy that the officers had to shoot second, in other words they had to return fire, wasn’t this a suicide pact?
This is where your bullshit falls down. The fact that half the police shootings are either unarmed or shot in the back is proof of bullshit. The fact that historically the cops had far more restrictions on their use of force, and somehow managed to retire is another proof.
But let’s talk history. In the 1970’s, the training for the cops was a technique known as shoot, shoot, assess. In other words, you fired two rounds, and paused to see if the baddie was going down, had dropped his weapon, or what. This technique coupled with the fact that you weren’t supposed to shoot if the baddie did not have a weapon was the basis of the training for cops. It was a good, and IMO common sense technique. First, it saved ammunition for a second baddie. If you emptied your weapon into the first bad guy, the second one would kill you deader than hell. Secondly. With the medical arts of the era, the baddie was most likely going to die with two bullets in him.
It is the same technique I use to train today. Shoot, shoot, assess. Coupled with the fact that I’m not pulling Sam Colt unless I am sure I have to, and I am not shooting unless there is a verifiable threat.
Shoot, Shoot, Assess. It has mutated through exceptions and mistakes to the modern technique of shoot for days. All because the cops keep learning the wrong lessons, and we as a society keep making the exceptions, the new rule.
In Stockton California, the cops fired six hundred rounds at four bank robbers. Most of the cops shooting could not see the baddies and were actually shooting right around their fellow cops. They were just spraying and praying as they dumped the magazine in the general direction of the baddies. That is not heroic. That is not professionals at work. That is jackasses on an adrenaline high pulling the trigger as fast as they could with little concern of what they were shooting at, or where the bullets were headed.
But I maintain that changes are coming. You see those changes coming too, which is why you are so upset and posting asinine doom and gloom threads about how if you don’t do the shootings in questionable at best situations, you’re going to die. It’s bullshit. More and more people know it. If you were serious about discussing how we got here, and how we went too far in our use of force, I’d be happy to discuss it with you. But you aren’t serious, you’re just another jackass who thinks the cops can do no wrong, and anyone who dies at their hands, deserves it.
