Police video shows California man died after officers held him
A police statement said Mario Gonzalez had a medical emergency after officers tried to handcuff him. His family contends he was killed by police who used excessive force.

SAN FRANCISCO — Police in the Northern California city of Alameda released body camera footage late Tuesday that shows officers pinning a man to the ground for more than five minutes during an arrest last week that ended in his death.

Mario Gonzalez, 26, stopped breathing after an April 19 scuffle with police at a park in Alameda.

He could have been drunk or he might have already been in the middle of his medical issues. Arresting a person is not the answer in either case. It's generally the go to response by the police. We will change that.

"medical episode"....isn't that what the initial official report said about George Floyd's murder?

Now "holding" people is lethal? :cuckoo:

Jesus. Maybe what cops need is a little better first aid training. It's so sad to think of anyone already struggling with a medical crisis getting pinned until they're dead.

Was Mario Gonzalez here legally?
Was he black?

STOP RESISTING THE POLICE!!!!!
How stupid do you have to be to fight two cops with guns?....
If you were detained illegally settle that afterwards....drinking beer in a public park in CA is illegal....the dudes first mistake and it cost him his life....
On another note...a white man armed with a stick was shot and killed by cops near where I live....other than local news it has not been covered at all...that should tell us all what the fucking treasonous national media is up to....

Not every case is the same. These cops responded to people calling complaining about someone drunk in the park. The police in the two separate incidents would have had a different mindset. Trying to connect the two wouldnt really be accurate here.

Or, perhaps the perp, knowing he has a medical problem, could go along with what the officers tell him to do. Maybe the thugs need some common sense.

Sure when unarmed whites get shot by police, they only end up as a number on a stat sheet. When a person of color is shot by police, its a human interest story. At least if they reported some of the white ones once in a while, then it wouldn't appear that cops are out hunting down POC only.
I saw 5 or six cops beat the litteral crap out of a white homeless man one morning in Reno Nevada.. right in front of Circus Circus because he was loittering and put up a little resistance. They went all out pounding him with the club before they threw him in a car. If this guy would have had an underlying medical issue, he probably could have ended up in a life threatening situation as well. It happens to everyone who resists police.... from time to time.
