Officers, city officials resign after new black mayor elected

Nothing in the article mentions anything about the new mayors background...
Are you kidding me? "Voters in Parma, Missouri voted in their first African-American female mayor".
Can you read? Be more attentive please. Read the whole article - not only the title.

The whole police force is only six guys.

It's probably a wise move. The new mayor is likely to be antagonistic to any white officers. Rather than see the first arrest turn into Ferguson this is the best solution.

If the whole force is six guys, 80% is impossible. Five of six would be 83.33%.
Unless maybe one of the five cut down to like two hours a week.

PARMA, MO (KFVS) -

Voters in Parma, Missouri voted in their first African-American female mayor.

Tyrus Byrd will be sworn in as mayor on Tuesday evening, April 14 at the Parma Community Building.

According to Mayor Randall Ramsey, five out of six police officers resigned this week, effectively immediately.

Mayor Ramsey said the city's attorney, the clerk and the waste water treatment plant supervisor also turned in resignation letters citing "safety concerns."

Mayor Elect, Tyrus, Byrd, said she was unaware of the situation and plans to ask questions about the "safety concerns" during Tuesday night's ceremony.

Mayor Randall Ramsey served the city of Parma for 37 years during two different terms.

He lost the election by 37 votes.

Byrd served as city clerk in the past. She was born and raised in Parma and also does missionary work.

She said her first order of business will be to help clean up the city.

you want to point it out about your allegations of criminal ties?

The city attorney and water treatment supervisor also quit. As the new mayor was a city clerk before being elected mayor all these people already knew her. No wonder they quit.

As city clerk she was known to those who quit. Maybe it was a personality conflict.

Guess they will have to find jobs in a more racist friendly town

Following the election of the town’s first African-American mayor, five of the six officers on a small Missouri town police force resigned en masse, reports KFVS.

80 percent of police force resigns after Missouri town elects first African-American mayor

from the link:

Former city clerk Tyrus Byrd was sworn in as mayor of Parma, Missouri on Tuesday only to find out that police officers, as well as the city attorney and a water treatment supervisor, had resigned before she took office.

According to outgoing Mayor Randall Ramsey, who is stepping down after 37 years in town hall over two terms, the city employees gave no prior notice.

Residents of the town, some pointing out that the town was probably over-staffed with police, were unconcerned about their safety after the two full-time and three part-time officers quit.

May be a blessing in disguise.

Nope. I am quite sure that it is not racism.
As of the 2010 Census, Parma's population was 67.46% White and 29.45% Black. So it may not be a totally race-based issue. It would be interesting to have a bit more background on this election though. Looked, but couldn't find much.
Why not a criminal issue?

there is no reason except safety concerns, which is such a great reason........

She can just hire new ones, these small towns in Mizzouri are like that, it's a clannish thing...

Sure.... right....

The booze tastes good today, what?
The police, city attorney and water treatment supervisor all quit. They know this woman and don't want the headache.

You moved from pot to shatter didn't you.

No evidence...

5/6 of the police, the city attorney, city clerk, and the guy who runs the water treatment plant. Town with a population of 713. Dipshit runs straight to the racist card. A place this small, the new mayor is the former city clerk, they know her. There is more to this story than guano's shit stirring imagination can grasp.
