Obama's Right About Senate Immigration Bill

The 12,000,000 aren't going to up and leave, that's a pipe dream an the money wing of the republican party won't allow it as they are cheap labor

Want to see a large portion of the 12 million illegals leave the country voluntarily?

1 - Take away automatic birthright citizenship. Require at least one parent to have been a Citizen at the time of the child's birth before the child is born with American Citizenship.

2 - Require all employers to use E-Verify. Don't use it? Lose your business license for 2 years. Hire an illegal and lose all State and Federal Contracts for 2 years.

3 - Don't require Schools to educate illegals . Not here legally, you can't attend American Schools.

4 - Hospitals are not required to treat illegals beyond basic life saving procedures.

5 - No welfare for illegals. This includes housing.

6 - Illegals, upon ordered deported, are held in custody until they are escorted to the nearest border

7 - Allow all States and Local Police to arrest illegals for being here illegally.

8 - Allow States and Local communities to pass State laws and Local Ordinances dealing with illegals.

9 - Confiscate wire transfers made by illegals. Since they were here illegally, any money they earned was illegally earned and should be treated the same as money earned through drug dealing and other illegal activities.

10 - Those who aid illegals should be charged for aiding and abetting criminals.

11 - Finally.. Entering the Country illegally is no longer a "Civil" Crime. Make it a felony.

One last point..

Any Country ( Looking directly at Mexico right now ) that aides people from their own or other countries in their attempts to enter the U.S. illegally loses all Federal aide. Every frigging dime.

We automatically close our embassy and bring home our Ambassador and staff.

Yes, they will up-and-leave on their own...

If we create (by law) conditions sufficiently hostile to Illegal Aliens (prohibitions on jobs, housing, healthcare, education, licensure, property ownership, financial services, etc.) that make them want to go home under their own power, as quickly as they can manage it.

Oh, and it's BOTH parties, not just the Pubs...

The Pubs (representing Business) want the cheap labor...

The Dems want the grateful future votes, and to feel good about themselves...

BOTH are Vote Whores, when it comes to pandering to the Hispanic ethnic bloc in this matter, to the detriment of The Republic and its People at-large.

Don't try to pull that "It's only the Pubs fault" crap in this context... it ain't gonna work.

The bill also requires certification that the border has been secured and allocates lots of extra funds to beef up border security.

I'm sure the same thing was in the Reagan amnesty bill. And we all know how that turned out.

It doesn't matter if you trust Obama. The bill sets up hard triggers and double-checks on border security. Most Americans do support a pathway to citizenship as long as the illegals who are here get in the back of the line, learn English, and pay their fair share--the bill mandates all three of these items. The bill also requires certification that the border has been secured and allocates lots of extra funds to beef up border security. All things considered, it's a pretty good bill.
It would certainly be a huge improvement over what we have now.

This should be reason enough to work the legislation through the house for a final version and get it signed.

**** Obama - he's a lame duck.

WHY would it be an "improvement".....? and for whom....?

I don't know. I just like saying '**** Obama, he's a lame duck'.

Well, that and it can't possibly be worse than what we have now, eh?

The problem is Obama has a history of of ignoring parts of laws he doesn't like or changing them on his own something he did more than once with Obamacare. Simply put Republicans don't trust him to enforce the law as written.

We need boarder security first.
Then later on maybe in 4 years, pass bills for some illegals, like the kids who have been here since they were small children.
That time period would give the people more confidence that they are actually willing to secure the boarders first.
Then get a better more efficient immigration reform.
It's ridiculous that any immigrants applying for citizenship should take years.

It turns out I was wrong about Obama being unwilling to support better border security and genuine requirements for gaining citizenship. The Senate immigration bill, S. 744, which he has vowed he will sign if it reaches his desk, would be a huge step in the right direction. It's not perfect. It's not everything I would want. But it has most of what I want. In fact, it's surprisingly tough in many of its provisions. So I commend Obama for being willing to support it, and I don't blame Obama for being frustrated at the GOP House leadership for refusing to allow the bill to come up for a vote on the House floor.

Now, that said, that still doesn't give Obama the right to start issuing executive orders to enact the provisions of the bill. As of now he doesn't appear to be planning on doing that, and I hope he continues in that mode.

Are you also in love with the unconstitutional provisions in it?

Well.... Don't leave us hanging, OK!

What are they? We need to know what parts are unconstitutional and why so we can write our congresscritters!!
Got link?

It has revenue raising provisions, fees and fines that must originate in the House, read the damned bill.
