One has to wonder how many more splattering belly flops the Trump administration can stand. The executive order on refugees was a farce, the utter incompetence shown by the AHCA disaster is a major blow, and the ever-growing scandals involving Russia are spreading poison throughout the GOP system.
I say with some real sympathy for the folks who voted for Trump in hopes of getting America back on track, that Donald J. Trump just doesn't have the necessary skills for the job. He would never have gotten the nomination if had been a three or four way race among serious candidates, and he would never have beaten any opponent other than Hillary. His presidency is a fluke that shows why we have never before had someone in the office that had not been a successful elected leader or a winning army commander. Trump is a talented guy and no fool; however, his talents don't match the job requirements and his smarts aren't nearly as impressive as they seemed.
The GOP badly needed a leader who could resolve the long-standing civil war between the establishment, of which Trump is clearly a member, and the right wing, whom he fooled with his happy talk. The AHCA mess shows that Trump can't overcome that challenge. The righties are jumping ship because AHCA is a total liberal loser.
If Trump and the GOP can't stop the slide, he is going to have to resign or be impeached. It is beginning to look like Pence may have to go too. His hands aren't nearly as clean as they looked before this Russian thing started to spread. And if both Trump and Pence decide they "need to spend more time with their families," that gives us... drumroll please .... President Ryan! Isn't that a coincidence? We know he wants the job, he was candidate as veep with an elderly cancer survivor at the top of the ticket. The only cure for Potomac Fever is embalming fluid. When Trump's ship begins to sink, Speaker Ryan may well throw him a concrete life preserver.
