Obamacare Kicks In and American Life Expectancy...DROPS

D_D did not even get it right the second time.

(1) You people need to give links and cites. Not one of you are trustworthy on your world alone.

(2) The quotes are mishs mashed together.

(3) Read below.

(4) Do it right and you don't called out for looking like the fools you all looked like.

"Socialism is the philosophy of failure..." - Winston Churchill - The Churchill Project - Hillsdale College

This quotation is now going around the web attributed to Churchill. Is it accurate? “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” —M.S.

It is more or less correct, but it’s a run-together, truncated version of two separate comments:

“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.” —Perth, Scotland, 28 May 1948, in Churchill, Europe Unite: Speeches 1947 & 1948 (London: Cassell, 1950), 347.

AND

“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of Socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” —House of Commons, 22 October 1945.

A variation on the above is: “I do not at all wonder that British youth is in revolt against the morbid doctrine that nothing matters but the equal sharing of miseries, that what used to be called the ‘submerged tenth’ can only be rescued by bringing the other nine-tenths down to their level…” —House of Commons, 13 June 1948.

Churchill’s “withering barrage of sarcasm,” said the late Dr. Harry Jaffa, “moreover puts us in mind of that dictum concerning property asserted by the Father of the American Constitution, James Madison, when he said, in the tenth Federalist, that ‘the protection of different and unequal faculties of acquiring property [is] the first object of government.’ One might add that according to Madison, the U.S. Constitution is intended to provide equal protection to unequal abilities. This is just as surely what Abraham Lincoln meant when in 1864 wrote to the Workingmen’s Association of New York that ‘Property is the fruit of labor; property is desirable; it is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise’”1

1 Harry V. Jaffa, “Remarks for Churchill’s Birthday: Requiem for Socialism and the Iron Curtain Churchill’s Relevance to the Challenges of the Present,” Finest Hour, January 1, 1991, 22.

Once again you misrepresent what was written. The author of the link from Hillsdale College was referring to “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” and not “The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings. The inherent virtue of Socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” The first quote above is the one that is a mish-mash.

The Liberal's penchant for misrepresentation, misquoting, and/or denying facts because that fact doesn't meet their agenda, or support their argument, is transparent. That is one of the reasons they lost the election.

That's right, ratz. Another failure for you...and you only...not a single Republican vote.

U.S. life expectancy declines for the first time since 1993
It truly does beg the question as to why life expectancy has dropped. Why would Obamacare do that?

Because it sucks. The first year of fully operational data and life expectancy drops to rates not seen in 20 years. If global temps did that, the ratz would be building bonfires to heat the planet back up.

One year of the ACA is not going to have any effect on life expectancy. That's a false premise.

No, but inadequate health care will.

Over time, yes. So provide evidence that Healthcare quality has decreased to the point of affecting mortality.

Read the article. "That trend was blamed on what are sometimes called diseases of despair: overdoses, alcoholism and suicide. "
People who are using illegal drugs and drinking too much DON'T tell their doctors about it. They don't seek medical attention for these things unless family members intervene.
Dumbass.

The thread is a mish mash due to the logical fallacy of the very first post.

The problem of low education voters is real!

Link?

Introduce a given change to a system then compare it to the control. The control in this case is empirical historical data...both average and trend. The methodology used in global warming is the same.

That is a dangerous statement since it is time and not event based:

"One year of the ACA is not going to have any effect on life expectancy. That's a false premise."

If the ACA eliminated ALL medical care are you saying there would be no effect? Of course not, but the required answer does establish the causality of available care and life expectancy.

Correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation. Many factors effect life expectancy. There is no indication that you've provided yet that large numbers of people are forgoing preventative care or that it is because of ACA.

I never claimed it was/did. I merely stated facts. The reader's personal biases filled in the rest of the narrative.

"Obamacare kicks in and American life expectancy drops" (title)

Fact, now for the rest of the OP:

"Another high end democRATic success story.

That's right, ratz. Another failure for you...and you only...not a single Republican vote."

Obamacare is touted as Barry's great success, is it not? Therefore the first sentence is true.

The second sentence is the hook. The bait is "another failure for you". Yet I never state what the failure is, do I? I've manipulated the reader into creating the linkage themselves.

The rest is obvious, it was a rat vote only bill.

Can you imagine how different that poster's response would be if Obama could point to life expectancy moving in a positive direction?

Clearly fake news. I mean just look at the MSM source --- The Washinton Post. Totally unbelievable! Show me something from a legit news source like inforwars, heatstreet, breitbart, etc...
I hope you get in front of the Obamacare death panel before we shut it down....

People drop dead when they see how much their rates go up!

Fer real, Smedley!!!

" Middle aged people laid off and unable to find work are taking another way out. They're killing themselves. Suicide rates are soaring, according to federal data released last week. Especially in economically depressed states and job-starved upstate New York. People in need of work are twice as likely to take their own lives as employed people, and people fired in their forties and fifties find it hardest to get hired again.
That makes boosting economic growth a life- and- death issue. But you wouldn't know it listening to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. President Obama whitewashes reality, claiming the "American economy is pretty darn good right now."
